  1. Just a plug for Jeff the Joiner. He's done a few jobs for us now and all have been excellent. Yesterday he fitted 8 internal doors and they look great. Always a fair price. And he's a nice bloke, which always helps. jon
  2. I'm really tempted to say I'll have a go as I've been looking for a project to get me going on an Android app. However, I only have basic knowledge of developing Android apps, fairly good knowledge of Java, and limited spare time. So the risk would be actually agreeing to get me to do it rather than me not getting any return on the investment of my time. PM me if you're willing to take the risk. jon P.s. I spent a year training as a patent attorney (gave it up...) so might be able to offer my 2 pennies worth in that regard also.
  3. Plaster was left to dry at it's own pace. Radiators are off the walls so can't use those anyway! Unfortunately I've put the skirting on already. Keen to get it all done and only just noticed these cracks. Thanks again for the replies. Jon
  4. Thanks for the replies. The cracks are appearing on the walls that used to have chimney breasts on. These walls were boarded and skimmed. The other walls were just skimmed. Ceilings were over-boarded and skimmed. So the cracks are on the face of the new walls along the edges of the boards. Will give the plasterer a call and get him to have a look. There are a few tiger stripes but these have sanded out easily enough. Cheers Jon
  5. Ha, I didn't say I was good at plastering. I said that if I wanted cracks and bumps that's what I would've got had I done it myself. I'll get busy with the hairline crack filler then. Cheers.
  6. Taylor and Emmet are a big law firm in Sheffield. They did the conveyancing for our house purchase. Excellent service. They do a lot of work in property so might be able to help. Ross Ward was the partner in charge of our work and he specialises in property. Here's their number 0114 218 4000 jon
  7. Hi After some advice please. We've recently had a few rooms in our house skimmed. Some of the rooms needed walls plaster boarding (where we had removed chimney breasts) and these were skimmed over. All this work was carried out by a plasterer. I've noticed that cracks have appeared on the plasterboarded walls along the edges of the boards. The edges of the boards are also very noticeable. Is this normal? Should these cracks be appearing? I'm thinking not. If I wanted cracks in the wall and a bumpy finish I would've done the plastering myself... Any advice greatly appreciated. Cheers jon
  8. I cannot believe everyone is focussing on the early collection bit. Really, nothing better to do?? The whole point of me posting this thread was this: The last collection from the post box at the Brightside Lane Royal Mail depot is 3.30pm on a Saturday. At least one person appreciates it.
  9. Porkies or not, the point of the original post was to spread what I thought was useful information: The last collection from the post box at the Brightside Lane Royal Mail depot is 3.30pm on a Saturday. jon
  10. I beg to differ. Turned up at my local PO to send some things at 11.50 and was told they wouldn't go until Monday as the collection had been made already...even though they advertise it as being at 12.00. The lass behind the counter even said "Yeah, he was a bit early today."
  11. Hi Spent ages trying to find this out earlier on today and thought I'd share the knowledge. The last collection from the post box at the Brightside Lane Royal Mail depot is 3.30pm on a Saturday. Very useful for that birthday card that needs to be there on Monday and your local collection was 15 minutes early... you've missed the last post. Cheers jon
  12. Hi there, I seem to be having some trouble uploading photos at the moment on the classified section. I Uploaded some earlier with no trouble. Is anyone else having the same problem? Thanks
  13. Hi, Yes, have a search for Sheffield Volleyball Club. They have a website which is easily found. The standard is very high in their National League teams. They also have a Yorkshire prem team. I've been meaning to get along to one of their practices for a while now! Cheers, jon
  14. Hi. Looks like i won't make it tonight unfortunately thanks to an injury. Cheers. Jon
