  1. My dad was in the york and lancs. C company. He was at Pontefract September 1952 -1954. He sailed to Sudan on the Empire Ken on 1st of January 1953. Demobbed in 1954. Anyone out there who was there at the same time?

    Hi,

My brother-in-law Derek Lambert was there at the same time as your dad. He too sailed on the Empire Ken.

  2. Hi,

I am really upset! Some low life has stolen the memorial ornament from my late husbands grave in the Stradbroke Rd. Cemetery. I know it didn't cost me a lot of money, but who ever took it must be the lowest of the lowest, to steal from the dead. This is happening to other people with loved ones buried in there too!

    Hi,

Valerie Turton worked with my dad, but Cath worked there for many years.

I worked in the warehouse, and also the 2nd floor in the tool room. I only worked there about a year in 1958/59.Mr Wood was manager.

  5. Hi,

Mr L.C.Hancock was the headmaster at Beaver Hill when I was there! He used to rub the fingers of all the smokers that he caught with sand paper, to remove the nocotine. We were all scared of him those days (50s) but I guess that we could do with a few more Mr Hancock's in today's society.

  6. does anybody know of or have any photographs of the bellhouse rd or woodhouse dairy chapel street, i have tried the sheffield library archives and other archives to no avail, i used to work there up to it shutting down then went to work in co-op shops for a few years then left as the co-op wasn't the same, the dairy and bellhouse stores was the heart of the b and c in my opinion, i would appreciate a pointer in the right direction as i think i'm lookin in the wrong place.

    Hi,

my husband worked at Woodhous dairy. He was Mick Lambert!
