  1. Went to Kelham Island Christmas Market today and was so disappointed. Cannot believe they had the cheek to charge 5 quid entry. The stalls were very poor. Only stayed ten minutes and had seen everything. Completely made the 2 hour traffic jam to Chatsworth Christmas Market well worth it. Absolutely no comparison. Have been to better school fates than the Kelham Island debacle.

  4. I agree. Gleadless is very different to Gleadless Valley and the two should not be classed as the same area.
  5. We went to try it out on Saturday for lunch. Having been to Browns in other cities, we had high hopes. We asked if we could eat outside where numerous people were sitting having drinks. This request was met with "No because it might rain." Needless to say, we took our business elsewhere and won't be going back anytime soon. Our bill came to nearly £200 so well done to Browns for their excellent business sense.

  7. There's already a thread on this restaurant - have a look, I'm sure you'll find it an interesting read! I made the same mistake thinking it was the same as Restaurant Bar and Grill in Leeds - once you've eaten there, you'll realise it's nothing to do with them!

  9. Lol! Thanks crowtrees. Just phoned Virgin who were as helpful as ever...my call will be logged with another department who will attend to the problem within 24 hours...I was sooo looking forward to watching 90210 on E4...grrrrrrr
  10. So...the chef clearly can't cook steaks to order, the service is appalling, the manager talks about past or future busy times...has anyone been in when it's been busy?
  11. Anyone else experiencing problems with the picture? Mine's been like it for about an hour. Just wondered if it's my box or something bigger.
  12. I can only echo the negative comments. I went last night looking forward to a lovely family meal. We were sat in a corner just under the speaker and without a light. As well as being very loud and dark, it was very claustrophobic as the next tables' diners' coats were pretty much on our table. The décor is not in the least bit s****y, the ceiling made me feel like I was in a weird seedy kids den. No one came to take our order so after 25 minutes, I went to find someone - indeed there were lots of staff, but little co ordination between them. The waitress who came said that the starter combo was not available - i queried if any of the other starters were as obviously the combo was just a selection of all the others - she said they were! I asked her to check on this illogical assertion - she disappeared only to reappear serving another table! Eventually, the food was ordered and served although drinks were forgotten on the way. I enjoyed my burger but my sister didn't enjoy her dry and crunchy calzone. We couldn't even be bothered to stay for desert so went downstairs to pay. On checking the bill, we had been overcharged by £18! The staff, in particular one blonde lady, were all very polite but no one had a clue what they were doing. Hopefully, just teething problems but I fear not.
  13. I am all for independent restaurants opening in Sheffield and don't mind paying London prices if I get London service. Unfortunately, this restaurant failed on every level. I went in with my friend on a Saturday afternoon; there were two other tables of two people in at the same time - so not busy. We ordered our meal and had a lovely starter. Our main courses came - we both had steak. We ordered a side of chips as the menu didn't state the steak did actually come with chips. When we pointed this out and queried why we weren't told, we were told the staff weren't trained waiters! My steak was rare when I ordered medium. All the while we were eating, the waiters were moving furniture around us which was most off putting. We finished our main courses and bottle of wine - deserts and coffee needed...no one came. Half an hour later, I was forced to get up and find someone. I complained and got 20% off but it wasn't good enough. This is a new business which should be bending over backwards for custom and return custom. I told this (boring) tale of woe to another friend and she told me that she had been there the day before and also complained about the service! No feedback taken on board then........ It's such a shame, Sheffield needs places like this. Sort it out!
