I did the course in a classroom environment with 15 other people, practiced on artificial arms with fake blood. The tutor told us to try getting experience at GP's or hospitals, working alongside nurses or other phlebotomists. You have to do procedure so many times before you are competent. I have worked as a GP receptionist before and a medical secretary, so interested in anything medical.

I recently did a course in Phlebotomy (taking blood) which I passed. I would like to gain some experience before applying for jobs but have had no luck in getting the experience. I have tried GP's surgeries but nobody wants to know.

No Natjack I wasn't being nosey, you couldn't miss her cos all traffic had stopped both sides, she walked straight past, had I been driving alone I might have stopped to help her. I was with my husband and had dog in back of car. I was hoping someone else might have stopped but I think people were just shocked. She was just staring vacantly, I wasn't making assumptions just stating it could have been a possibility. Why are people so horrible on here!

Driving down Barnsley Road today about 11.40 ish , down towards NGH from town, cars were stopping because this poor girl was walking all over the road stopping traffic, don't know if she was stoned, had a mental illness or what but she was walking in front of cars, she came right past my window and was white as a sheet and just staring. Hope she got the help she needed, it was distressing to see. Did anyone see her?

It wasn't too bad I suppose, we had a careers day with people coming from colleges etc and we attended a careers fare at the Octagon Centre I think but that was about it. I ended up working in an office which wasn't really for me on the end, now I'm cleaning which I don't want to do either.
