  1. Ignore the silly answers. Ubuntu is a fantastic operating system. It's likely it will run better on your old machine than any Windows OS will. Don't be afraid by the subtle differences and the "Terminal" which you will be told to use a lot. I use Ubuntu 9.04 and love it. It installs easy and quickly. Give it a go but expect things to be different. Get to know the Synaptic package manager and the Add/Remove programs. Basically, you can say goodbye to googling for software, with synaptic you just put in what you need and it gets it for you and installs it for you. Well, most of the time. Though if you install Ubuntu 9.10, the latest one, you won't get these as they've been replaced by an all in one package manager. I love Ubuntu and have tried various Linux flavours, some are good in their own way but Ubuntu is by far the best for the casual user. The only draw back is it doesn't have as many games as Windows, though that's not really the fault of Linux, it's more the games companies going for the more popular platform. Give it a go, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Also Ubuntu has massive community support online, they have a massive forum where your questions are answered. You won't get people popping up with pointless posts because you of a typo. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you need any help.
  2. The UK is a relatively free country because of the people that have gone before us who have fought for rights. The citizens of Somalia will have to fight for their own rights in their own country if they want them. If we got involved in such things we would just be labelled, as we are now as the bully of the world, along with the US of course. If people do want to help perhaps they could write a strongly worded letter to the Somali leader.
  3. The Universe doesn't need god or spirits. It got along fine for 13.4999. It's only been the past couple of thousand years people have placed a god into things they didn't understand. After careful consideration I must ask, are you a religious person who wants to take the findings of science and use it to justify your beliefs?
  4. People are giving out the wrong advice again. It depends on the Terms and Conditions of the car park. By parking there you have just agreed with the Terms and Conditions. One of the Terms and Conditions will state that if you fail to adhere to their rules then you agree to pay the charge. Same as when you use a website like this. When you make an account you have a Terms and Conditions page. If you don't agree with the T&Cs then don''t park. They're non enforceable with regards to the law but they can go to court as a civil matter. What do you think banks do when they don't get their money back? It does get me why people think they can park on someone's land and feel like they don't have to compensate them for the time or business lost. I imagine if someone parked their car on your drive you would want something done about it. It's simply a professional version of that.
  5. I did a Google search on this subject. I asked the question, "CERN prove matter cannot be destroyed. The first 2 links were to this thread. You would have thought an announcement of such a big thing would have been all over the internet by now. Here's the link just in case.
