  1. Introduce permit parking and exclude students from getting permits.
  2. Realistically a lot of people can't afford an expensive e-bike though. At least from the comments on the Crookes facebook group, support is at the 1% or so level amongst locals.
  3. I have been debating voting labour at the next GE. Now I can't, because it looks very much like they are looking forward to having this power for themselves. To what end I don't know, but I can't think of any good reason why labour want this power.
  4. He handed out a lot of dodgy contracts to friends of his during the pandemic. With some digging its hard to believe something cannot be pinned on him.
  5. the russians are rounding up and deporting civilians from occupied areas to remote cities in Russia. They are the lucky ones. Others are tortured to death. If they survive the war and stay in Russia afterwards they will be just fine. There is no resistance in Russia that is going to go to their home address and take revenge.
  6. Having seen how the Russians behave its not in the interests of the civilian population to accept anything less than Russia getting out of their country. If you let them keep territory many more civilians will be tortured and killed.
  7. and this is the example the little kids see and will try to emulate.
  8. I know the couple who were scammed, and the whole experience was very distressing for them. I didn't realise it was the same guy as this "king" being glorified by some until now.
  9. It says the monument differs from the one given planning permission. As such it would have to come down, as would happen for anyone else. If the wife wants to threaten violence then the police should deal with it. If people go through with violence I hope they are locked up for a long time.
  10. Hi, I am interested in anyones recent experience of estate agents selling your house in the Walkley/Crookes area. IN particular: Why you thought they were good or bad? Did you have to chase them a lot to get stuff done or they were proactive? Do you feel they over or undervalued your home to get your business? Am planing to sell soon, so need to think about whom to get quotes from. Thanks, N
  11. because those countries remember Russian oppression. Now they see what is happening in Ukraine and those that joined NATO see they made the right choice. No-one forced them to join, they requested it. If Russians would behave in a civilised way it would not be needed. We can see going all the way back the Chechen wars in the 90's/2000's the way they treat others.
  12. Having had a relative go through a mental health crisis where they suffered delusions, he may well think its perfectly sensible to push the button....and there are lots of rumours Putin is no longer well (Macron has said this).
  13. you are assuming he is rational and sane.
  14. Even if it had shops back I would not go. Online is just too convenient. Now I only do shopping online or use very local independent shops in the suburb where I live ( as well as small independents online I have discovered when on holiday in the UK).
  15. it should only do things the commercial sector won't. Much of its output is just "me too" copies of light entertainment and soaps you can find on many other providers. Why is e.g Eastenders publicly funded? Coronation Street isn't, yet we still have that...
  16. He's not an expert on immunology. And getting a disease in order to get immunity from that disease is pretty dumb....shocking he is advising people to do that.
  17. I wouldn't. Sharing is good. Communist economics was a total failure, so conflating that idea with "sharing" is terrible propaganda for trying to move away from the system we have now to something fairer.
  18. I stopped using them years ago because they rarely know where to go and need constant directions. Uber is much better because they use sat navs, though that would not matter if black cab drivers used them too (or memorised the roads as is done for london cabbies).
  19. either china nor russia are communist! Both capitalist. The difference is democracy vs authoritatinism now., the economic argument has long since been won by capitalism.
  20. Yes they have explained it in many news articles actually. Not hard to find out at all.
  21. Fine as long as the unvaccinated agree to forgo treatment. Otherwise they just fill up the hospitals and block up the entire system for non-covid patients...
  22. the price cap means they would have to sell to Bulbs customers at a very large loss. So why on earth would they want to take them on?! That is in fact the reason Bulb went out of business - their model was to buy at the current price and sell to customers for slightly more. The price cap forced them to start selling at a large loss which is clearly unsustainable.
  23. most of our MP's are labour round here aren't they? The tories tend to give funding only to those who vote for them, so if you think the tories would win the next GE its logical to vote for them if you want infrastructure funding.
  24. Its an American thing. Several years ago a woman at the airline checkin desk said what a coincidence that I was also English in her thick American accent. They seem to think having a grand parent or great grandparent from a European country means they are from that country. By that definition I'm Greek and German!
  25. I was referred for surgery in the summer. Had to wait less than a month for an appointment and surgery was less than a month after that.
