As a side note, there is mention of a Ley-Line that runs from Norton St James church to Beauchief Abbey, the line that goes through the Bell Barrow Mound in Graves Park and if extended east it goes through Anston St James church as well, all three ecclesiastical buildings were built around the same time. Whimsical and meaningless in all probability.

I think that's terrible advice, millions of old people are afraid to go out at night, to evening classes, dancing, pubs, seeing friends etc, while the chances of anything happening are miniscule. It's all hype and newspaper bull and it's ruining the life of millions. The same overexaggerated risks are keeping youngsters from enjoying the outdoors too.

Usually half the value of the property will be protected by such a trust, care fees (plus interest) can build up and the house may have to be ultimately sold to pay out up to half its value. If you have over about 22K in assets you pay for all your care, then there's a sliding scale down to about 14K, at which point your care is paid for by the state. I have also heard that a Trust doesn't go to probate, and the assets can be accessed quickly. The best thing to do is give your spare assets away well before you need care.

Difficult to see how she'd be abducted, the only road to the area is through a gated static home park, the area is cut off on 3 sides by the river and I don't think there's a bridge in the area. Surely CCTV has been followed up on for any unusual vehicle going through the gated park. I'm afraid it may be a tragic fall into the river.

The Street Where You Were Brought Up.
Norbert replied to pattricia's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
Market St, Woodhouse is an extension of the street I grew up on so I hope people donât mind if I post my Mumâs recollections of the area Victor is describing. Mum remembers Currâs shop on Market St as she worked opposite it in the 1950âs, she worked in Offlessâ which sold nightwear, socks, wool etc. Billy Whiteâs chemist moved up to Chapel St, and in fact only closed a few weeks ago as theyâve just moved into old Woodhouse Library. Winnie Camden had the coats and dresses shop and she talked reyt broad until a well to do customer came in, then she talked very posh. Opposite Currâs was Mr Butcher the greengrocer who sold fish and game, mum remembers the rabbits hanging outside. Then there was Mrs Turnerâs shop that sold things for pit workers. Also Crosslandâs newsagents, Cyril Crossland retired up Frechville way and Michael Hall from Hallâs Bakers kept in touch with him and let people know how he was. Keetonâs are still going strong and providing great a service. Mum grew up at 146 Sheffield Rd, her brother Reg worked for Halls Bakery but suffered with dermatitis from the flour so drove their delivery van until he became self employed with Reg Poyntonâs Mobile Shop. Mum became a buyer for Stewart & Stewart opposite the Peace Gardens and briefly lived the high life before having me. -
The Street Where You Were Brought Up.
Norbert replied to pattricia's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
Hi Victor, I'm 57 and visit Woodhouse 2-3 times a week to look after my Mum who is 88. We're interested in any Woodhouse memories so do tell us more about your uncle's shop and any names if you can. My ancestors in Woodhouse had a 'pop' factory, Fowler, Whittaker & Cheetham, we were the Fowler part. My other grandparents were Poynton and Good. My parents grew up on Sheffield Rd and Revill Lane. My cousin lived on Nickerwood at Swallownest. All the best -

No need to worry the great works are behind bulletproof glass as you and the protestors well know. The ultra rich using the great works as investment tokens, now that's desecration. Will you send me a video of this remarkable lad?

Jordan Petersonâs 12 rules for life. 1 "Stand up straight with your shoulders back." I keep hitting my head on low beams, Iâm 6'4" ffs. 2 "Treat yourself like you are someone you are responsible for helping." Iâve enough on already without dealing with myself in the third person. 3 "Make friends with people who want the best for you." You donât say. 4 "Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today." How am I going to learn new stuff from yesterdayâs me. You ainât thought this one through. 5 "Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them." They can do anything non-permanent they like so long as it doesnât cost me too much, Iâm not Victorian. 6 "Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world." Cobblers, my house and the world are both imperfect and co-evolving. 7 "Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient)." Not advice Iâd give to the guy building my extension. 8 "Tell the truth â or, at least, don't lie." I never ever lie, ever. 9 "Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don't." Well I hope they donât waffle on too long before letting me in on it, like you Mr P. 10 "Be precise in your speech." Iâd suggest a bit of humour and a lighter heart Jordy, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. 11 "Do not bother children while they are skateboarding." You should have stopped at number 10. 12 "Pet a cat when you encounter one in the street." See also - when scraping the barrel, stop at the wood.

Hillsborough Leisure Centre Swimming

I heard it's due to problems with a local man constantly filming in there and refusing to wear a mask.- 1 reply

Saw it this afternoon, turns out I am a fan of musical theatre. Some good voices, Joy especially. Nearly got hit by a settee. People going to the theatre with a hacking cough however should be guillotined in Tudor Square

It's not certain at all, invoking god wouldn't cross many peoples minds, a bit like when you stub your toe or stand on a plug, a good swearing session results.

I'd pay good money to live that near a Job Lot and cheap drugs.

Have you not noticed the likeness? Maybe I'm the first. Anyway a simple DNA test should clear it up.

I've seen nothing to suggest James Hewitt won't talk with Harry, and shouldn't that be half-brother?

Well I recorded it for later viewing, but now I know how it ends, Thanks for saving me a couple of hours.

Universities Trigger Warnings, Are They Needed?
Norbert replied to iansheff's topic in General Discussions
No, triggered like when someone easily offended gets their feelings hurt by a dog whistle headline in The Telegraph, and has to start a thread about it, then the other snowflakes join in, and you stroke each other and have a dog treat. Who's a good boy then. -

Feed The World. Let Them Know Its Christmas Time.
Norbert replied to The_DADDY's topic in General Discussions
8 million is chicken feed, and most people didn't have a clue what temp to run their radiators and hot water for better efficiency, so money well spent. Space exploration, particle physics and blue sky research are shining examples of humanity forging ahead while politics and culture are otherwise moribund.
