  1. Advice please - I've been keeping my rabbits next to the house over the summer so they were always in the shade and never in direct sunlight. However now it's colder, should I move their cage and run away from the house into the only sunny spot in the garden or would this be worse for them? At least next to the house they are getting some heat and they are very sheltered. I don't want them to warm up and get toasty during the day and then freeze over night due to the temperature difference. Obviously I keep the cage covered at night with several layers and they have lots of hay and fresh bedding daily too. However your advice would be appreciated if you know about rabbits! Thanks
  2. I've got towels, bedding and some carpet if you still need it. Please let me know where to take it. Jess
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. To answer your question garlicmunch, yes you can transfer your old number across too. Jess
  4. Any constructive advice on this would be appreciated! I've recently bought a new Nokia 5230 on pay-as-you-go due to the Orange's top-up phone fund scheme. However I have just seen the amazing Tesco sim-deal for 500 mins, unlimited internet and texts for £10 per month. Is there anywhere I can get this Nokia phone unblocked so I can take up the deal, or is it impossible as one shop I went to claimed? Thanks, Jess
  5. Yes we've got a self tapping screw in it currently which is how I managed to get home. It isn't big enough though as it's still leaking a little bit. I guess the drill bit they used to drill in was a similar size. I didn't know Halfords did patches - I thought it would be a garage job. Thanks for the advice.
  6. Last night we went to stay with some friends and left our car outside their house overnight. This morning I was surprised to find I had no petrol but thought I must have run it dry yesterday as we went all over the place. However when we went to the petrol station the £20 worth of fuel we put in drained away! It doesn't help that I have no sense of smell so only realised when I saw the puddle forming! I have looked all over the net for a new fuel tank but my car is a very rare Mitsubishi and no-one has it! Does anyone know anywhere in Sheffield I could go to get a patch done reasonably instead? Please, only constructive, relevant comments!
  7. Thanks for the ideas. I'm getting the Advocate brand simply because it's got the combined wormer and flea prevention and it seems to cause less stressful for one of my cats (other brands have made him sick). However what I really want to know is, can I get a free prescription anywhere because that's the only way you can get Advocate! Even online!
  8. All your advice would be appreciated on this one! I have just spent my Easter holidays battling with fleas, as they seem to have developed an immunity to the brand (no names mentioned eh Bob?!) of flea stuff we were using. The vets have recommended another brand which got rid of them and also includes a wormer in it. The other worming products we've tried made one of the cats throw up each time it was administered (tablets and spot-ons alike,) so this seems like an ideal solution. However, it is of course very expensive and only available on prescription. The upside is that I have found a reputable online retailer where I can get it quite reasonably but, my vets wants to charge me £13 a time to write out the prescription! That's each time for each animal! And I've got four to do!!! Any ideas where I could get a cheaper or, even better, free prescription? Thanks.
  9. Yeah brill but don't worry - I'll have a ring round tomorrow. I would normally go to Springfield at Wickersley. I started going there after I picked up a rescue cat from them who had been treated really well but I'll have a look into it. Thanks again for all your advice.
  10. Thanks for the advice - I'm going to ring our vet in the morning. I don't suppose if you know if there are any vouchers around like the ones you get for cats to reduce the cost? Sorry if that sounds cheeky but living off a part time teaching assistant's salary doesn't get me very far!
  11. Yes they are making nests. I can't tell which one is doing the pulling as, as they're from the same litter they're almost identical in fur and markings. There aren't any bald spots (yet) though on either and they don't seem out of character.
  12. Hi. Any advice would be gratefully received on this rabbit-related issue! Despite begging my sister not to get two very cute and cuddly baby rabbits in the summer, she went ahead and bought them. Oh, and suprise suprise - they ended up at my house when the weather got cold and she couldn't be bothered any more! They are two girls from the same litter and have always been homed together. The problem is that they have begun to tear out their fur when I close their hutch up and put on the cover at night. This has only recently started and someone suggested to me that it could be because they are in season. My question is should I: A. Separate them permanently? They seem perfectly fine during the day. Also they get lots of exercise and have loads of things in their cage and run to keep them entertained so I'm discounting boredom. or B. Get them neutered? I'm not flush with cash at the moment so if B. is the right way to go, could someone please tell me if there are any good but cheap vets/vouchers/deals available at the moment to have this done. Thanks for reading my essay!
  13. Just contact the student unions - the Welfare Officer at Sheff Uni and the Equal Opps Officer at Hallam Union. Numbers and emails on the net.
  14. Hi. The only thing I've still got is a front mounting for a spare wheel. I was contacted by a member of the forum who bought the rest but he wasn't interested in the mounting. If it's any good to you then it's brand new and packaged with all the nuts and bolts. £10 ono. Thanks.
  15. Hi. I am aware that you can't sell anything on this part of the forum but I don't really feel that classic VW enthusiasts will be checking the sales part of the forum in order to see some parts that I want to sell. So, the question is, where should I advertise these locally? Ebay isn't an option for me as I find it too complicated! Thanks.
  16. Hi. Has anyone been onto the Student Unions to organise a drop when all the students move out? I could probably do something around that if you haven't got anyone on it.
  17. JennyJen I'm also waiting! I think the weather conditions have prohibited the drive over from Manchester. Will post pics as soon as poss if things do all go ahead though.
  18. Sorry Jen i didn't get back to you! Can't wait for the pitter patter of tiny paws in the house! x
  19. Hi Seadog. If you still need a foster please let me know. I can pick up tomorrow if required. I am located in Harthill, S26. A permenant home would depend on aptitude to cats however!
  20. The Dinnington Middleton Hall has a sprung floor in one of their large rooms they rent out - don't know if that would be suitable for your purposes but I suggest it as my dance class hires it.
