  1. Just checked doglost and this little dog is home safe and sound!! Thankyou Forummers for helping look.
  2. Posted on doglost website already, but being a local forum I thought I'd pop this poor doggie on here. Wiskey is a little beige coloured x-breed with a bit of a staffy shaped face. He has been missing from Aston, S26 area since yesterday ( tuesday 8th jan) so can you all please keep a lookout if you are in the surrounding area; thank you.
  3. Thanks for all your sympathetic replies. We've called him Eddie and he is settling to life at Thornberry, although it's not the right environment for such elderly animals. He will stay until we find a foster home for him. Touch wood! Nothing on the doorstep this morning! I kind of hope that he had an elderly owner who, for whatever reason, had to let go and someone thought of me - a note through the letterbox might have helped!
  4. Taking unwanted pets into a rescue - acceptable. Tying or leaving them at entrance to rescue - not clever. Dumping them in someone's garden in the middle of the night cos you know they workfor a rescue ??????? That's what happened to me in the early hours of this morning; an elderly arthritic staffy gent found on my back doorstep - too crippled to jump and too stout to squeeze. Now safe at Thornberry, but I keep wondering what will be ther later......
  5. the little dog is still at the Sanctuary, but all attempts to contact the owner on the phone number we have have failed - getting a number not recognised voice! Please misslonglegs, can you get us a contact number for her owner so we can get in touch! Send me a pm, or ring the sanctuary tomorrow between 11 and 3. We really want to reunite them and support them all the way.
  6. Hi everyone. Thank you rachels1980 and your other half, for saving Lucy. I am at Thornberry and have been looking after her. Sorry your call wasn't answered, but she is getting used to us and our environment. She has started getting giddyand playing and is loving a cuddle. She now understands that a lead means walkies and doesn't get anxious when I put it on her, but is not happy crossing the road - which is hardly surprising! She is very snatchy with food and treats, but they probably didn't feed her properly so she was always hungry, or competing for food; that'll improve. Somebody is coming to meet her in the next few days, with their dog, so paws crossed! Will keep you posted; I am very fond of her already and she has come to trust me and shows me so much affection, I will miss her if this works out!
  7. Sorry to say fabcakes, that our Tessa died a few weeks ago; she was retired and went to live with Alison, our night staff manager and her doggie family. Tessa was getting on a bit and she slipped over the bridge in her sleep - we couldn't ask for a more peaceful passing. We had her cremated and her ashes have been returned to the Sanctuary so she is with us forever.
  8. Chrissy84, you'll need to ring the Sanctuary tomorrow at 11am and speak to the kennel staff; they will want proof of ownership, so it would be ideal if you could bring the lady with you, or have her speak to the kennel staff directly.
  9. Thornberry Animal Sanctuary has an elderly Bedlington terrier type dog in its care. She came to us this lunchtime and was found wandering on City Road near the cemetery. It looks like she has had a bit of a flea allergy, but is a happy soul and we need your help to reunite her with her owner. She has a collar on, but sadly, no tag or microchip, so if anyone knows where she might belong, please get in touch! Thornberry can be contacted on 01909 564399 between 11am and 3pm, or email the kennels on dogsbignsmall@hotmail.com. The stray kennels know about her, and we are really hoping her owners are out there, so any help is much appreciated.
  10. It used to be, but it is now used by the council for strays from the city. The post with contact info is further down this page - del_kacey I think - an urgent appeal for bedding; have a look and let them know what you've got, then you can organise getting it there. The sooner, the better, with the way the weather is going!
  11. twibstix, that's brill of you. Spring street Sheffield pound dogs are desperate for bedding - have a look at the earlier posts on the pet section and you'll find all the contact info you'll need. Thank you.
  12. Why doesn't the Rspca use it's considerable resources to insist in a government inquiry/investigation into sites like Gumtree and create some sort of regulation ? On a less emotive point, someone could easily get rid of furniture without fire-proof certificates which, in the case of second-hand retail outlets, is a legally binding situation. I don't mean to belittle the brutality that moron inflicted on poor Tyson, but the human safety angle is usually the only one trhat makes any difference.
  13. hi jan2665, can i suggest that you register the dog as found on doglost.co.uk website and put notices up in the area; let vets know, pet shops, paper shops etc. Also, take it to your local vet/rescue centre, to get the dog scanned for a microchip. If the dog carries a chip, then hopefully, dog and family can be reunited. Also, notify the local dog warden service that you have found it - that is a legal obligation.
  14. If you want advice greenfly125, call Thornberry Animal Sanctuary tomorrow morning after 11am on 01909 564399, and ask for wild bird rescue numbers - we have telephone numbers of 2 people anyone can call on, so ask for them. Hopefully, they will be able to give you the info and help this bird needs.
  15. Thornberry wants to say a big thank you to Terri for her support - get along to Godfrey's, and support us! Thank you to BuBu too! We're having a very informal fundraising meeting at the Sanctuary on Tuesday evening at 7pm, if anyone wants to come along; ideas, joining in, all are welcome. ps: tea/coffee and biscuits on the go too!
