What pet to get my 3 yr old for his birthday
scoop replied to rachelfinlay's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
I don't think people said that because you have children, but because you commented about being very busy. though if you're a stay at home Mum (which is what I read from your post, apoligies if I'm wrong) I don't really see why you shouldn't have time for a pet of some sort. I have a dog and a cat. The cat does her own thing, comes and goes as she pleases. We ave a neighbour who looks after her while we're away. The dog is alot more dependant, but in a way he's easier to look after, because as a rule he can go more or less everywhere where we go - again we're very luck, cos he is looked after by my Mum if we're going somewhere without him and when we're at work. -
About 10 police cars, three riot vans, dog vans and several other police vehicles have all sped off in that direction. Helicopter hovering overhead. What gooin on?

Sherwood Forest Holiday Park - has a seperate non electric field for tents. Lots to do in the surrounding area. -
Sincerest condolences, sounds like you and the Mrs were very lucky to find each other - I'm sure you made her very happy.

Theres a personality disorder called Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) - often confused with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) but the two are quite seperate and different. One of the features of OCPD can be obsessively hoarding money. People with Aspergers often also have OCPD.

I had a similar experience at Sheffield station a few months ago, where I was threatened by a group of taxi drivers (about twenty of them and one of me) when tey took umbridge to me photographing them parking illegally. They threatened to run me over also. I was really shaken by te incident, and rang the police - I suggest you do the same.

I'm a paediatric nurse and am frequently involved with children who are being abused in one way or another by their parents. I never cease to be amazed by how badly abused a child can be and still left in the home with "support" from social care. Far from children being snatched from parents by social care, I think many, many children are left far too long in dire circumstances - some never get the help they need from social care and live miserable lives. Some go on to become abusive parents themselves, and so the terrible cycle of abuse goes on. Since the Children Act in 1989, the focus has been keeping children with their families - but very, very often at the cost of a childs happiness. Whilst I'm certain their are a few cases of miscarriage of justice, in practice we mostly see quite the oppisite to what the OP is suggesting, and sadly on an all too frequent basis.

We went yesterday. Kids had a fab time - we didn't pay for anything, they only did the free activities and we watched a few displays - the mountain bike display guys were fab! We didn't queue more than a few minutes for anything. Well worth the entrance fee. If any of the organisers/stall holders are reading I'd like to say thank you very much - we had a great day out.

Thanks for all the replies and PM's. Are there any forummers who can actually offer a recomendation?

Is running a car more hassle than they're worth?
scoop replied to cardoor's topic in General Discussions
I've just SORN'ed my car for the summer - saving loads of money by getting about mostly by bike or on foot with an occasional bus or taxi thrown in. That said I do have occasional access to my OH's car, if I didn't I'm not sure I'd want to get rid completely - we're going camping soon - that would be very difficult witout the car as I like to take LOADS of stuff!! -

Asda Handsworth, disabled bays being misused.
scoop replied to megalithic's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
A few years back my Mum was temporarily wheelchair bound for a few weeks following some surgery on her feet. Her activities were restricted to companies who had private car parks who gave us permission to use the disabled spots without a badge. So don't always assume that no badge = abuse, it may be a temporarily incapcitated user. -
Sounds good Lotti - Is it big enough for a Cav? Have you got a link to a piccie?

I'm looking for a bag specifically designed for carrying a dog with its head out big enough for a cavalier king carles spaniel. My Mum occasionally has to use a taxi with her dog, and she's happier if the dog is enclosed inside a bag so she doesn't get hair all over the taxi. At the minute se's using a cloth shopper - plonks her in and bundles her up in her arms, but I| think it'd be easier if she had something a bit more structured that she could carry by the handles and the dog could stand in it for a couple of minutes. Its not for travelling long distances, we're talking five minutes in a taxi - and it also needs to fold small for Mum to carry without the dog in. Anyone know of anything?

Should have or at the very least should've.
