  1. I use Derbyshire Lane Service Station - they're fab and charge very reasonably.
  2. I've lived in Sheffield all my life (and not in the posh bits either) and I've never spoken like that, my grandads did, but I think words such as thee and tha have long gone. Still accuse folk of being mardy on a regular basis though!
  3. In one of the videos the man says he asked social services for help because his children have behaviour problems (not being funny, but ow bad do behaviour problems have to be for you to ask sociaql work for help). He also says his children were overweight. Why would social services steal those children?
  4. My view is that hitting children is always wrong. As a disciplinary measure it simply isn't effective. Most parents who hit/smack their child do it in anger, not in a controlled measured way - this teaches children that it is right to physically hurt someone when you're angry with them. Fifty years ago, it was considered acceptable for men to castise their wives with a slap - similar arguements were put forward then as to why this was acceptable as have been put forward in this thread. If you disagree, is it ok for me to come round and give you a slap? Why not?
  5. The day my divorce came through I felt a massive weight off my shoulders. I timed the changing of my married name back to my maiden name to coincide. The last year of my relationship with my ex-husband, and the two years after our separation were very, very difficult - I felt so free when I was finally legally sperate from him. Of course, the expereance has a knock on effect with how I deal with stuff. I have a new OH - ask him what happens if he tries to "tell me what to do" after living for years with someone who became increasingly controlling and manipulative!
  6. Maybe he's just having trouble with is s key. I have trouble with my H key.
  7. Take a deep breath and think, despite a very unpleasant experience, you've all come to no harm. I'd contact the police, I suspect they'll already be aware of this individual and if they aren't they should be.
  8. Just remembered, it was The Companions Club my Great Grandad used to go to.
  9. My Great Grandad used to go to a club near pitsmoor/Ellesmere - I think it was called the friends or someting. I wonder if it was related.
  10. Don't be giving Mr Cameron ideas. He get the poor planting veg on the grass verges. Though were they'll park their Subaru's is anybodies guess.
  11. How? How many times do you think Baby Ben Needham had been to the dentist? And do you think his teeth now would match baby Ben's teeth?
  12. The Chocador loves apples, when we go to my mums he runs streight round into the garden to search the garden, whether its apple season or not!
  13. Thank you, Terry. I do love te song.
  14. Every time I see Ben Needhams Mum on TV it breaks my heart. Best wishes to Kerry and family.
  15. No you're not right. Guide dogs don't get steam sterilised every night you know. They are neither more nor less germ ridden than their non working, layabout counterparts.
  16. Not according to the most recient reviews!
  17. Even party animals like a room to be clean.
  18. St Pauls Mercure is bang in the centre, has a pool and spa and is lovely. You can often get a good deal on late rooms.
  19. Operation. Asked Father Christmas for it every year but he never delivered. I got a cheap immitation called Dentist, but it turned out to be rather good - the lttle man used to let out a blood curdling scream. I used to like being Dr Phil McAvity. My 8 yr old has operation - whether he wants it or not!
  20. Our dog escaped a few months ago. Entirely the fault of someone in our house (we still occasionally bicker over whom it was that left the door open). Despite crossing a fairly busy main reported, and reportedly frolicing about in the middle of another road he was safely returned to us by a very nice man a few streets away fom us about an hour later (one of the worst hours of my life). Had things been different and he'd come to harm, I'd have had to accept full responsibility (well, whoever left the door open would have!). Shame for the dog and it's owners, but blaming the driver is daft.
