that does sound better than messing with cds doesnt it? suppose thats what comp shop blokes do when installing drivers!! its a hp pavilion laptop by the way and am using the laptop now. its just that the sound and mic have stopped working but its showing working on laptop info and icons. and even sounds when i keep the f2 button pressed down on boot up. so a new install mite do the job as i tried to re-install vista and since then, the sound stopped working. thanks for the advice mi old.
