  1. Orange oil from the peel of an orange works well and makes everything smell nice too
  2. As expected, the newer the game, the more graphics 'grunt' you need.
  3. Have you tried booting into the bios to see if the keyboard works then? If it doesn't I can't see it being anything but a hardware fault, as the keyboard should work in the bios with no operating system installed.
  4. It was the photo shop that suggested trying a free one. Maybe they don't have much confidence in their own software?
  5. Thanks for that Ghozer. I didn't think it would boot without a cpu in place but wasn't sure if it would boot with a cpu that wasn't recognised.
  6. Hi all, i have an asus sabertooth P67 motherboard. I understand that if i update the bios my chipset will support ivybridge. Problem is, can i update the bios with either the ivybridge cpu in place or with no cpu in at all as i no longer have access to a sandy cpu.
  7. I really do not understand some people who post on forums such as this. If someone does not agree with something you post or just has a different opinion, this doesn't have to erupt into all-out war of words. People really shouldn't take a difference of opinion as a slight against them.
  8. I have put 2x120Gb SSDs running in raid 0 in my new build and the start up and app. launch times are blistering, but I do realise that this sort of expenditure would not suit everybody. As for 'normal' PC users, would an SSD decrease boot times? Almost definitely. Personally, I would try looking at what applications the 'normal' PC user is launching at start up, getting rid of some of those will also decrease your boot time. As for price, I bought both of my SSDs when they were £1/Gb and because of the performance boost they have given me, I was glad to do it. My laptop will be getting the SSD treatment next
  9. If it was my own upgrade I think I would want to put my new parts in a new case. This one is on offer https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Cases/Cases+with+PSUs/Cooler+Master+CM+Storm+Enforcer+Black+Midi+Tower+Window+Gaming+Case+%2B+700W+PSU+?productId=52658 and it comes with a 700W PSU. The EVGA graphics card is a good choice, but I would go for the MSI GTX 660 twin frozrIII. It runs cooler, quieter and is slightly cheaper. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi-gtx-660-twin-frozr-iii-oc-28nm-pcie-30-(x16)-6008mhz-gddr5-gpu-1033mhz-boost-1098mhz-cores-9 You may also see a performance kick from using a SSD for a boot drive, a 60Gb one is big enough. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/60gb-corsair-force-series-3-sata-iii-ssd-sandforce-sf-2200-read-525mb-s-write-490mb-s-80k-iops All things to think about....
  10. ConvertXtoDVD is good for recoding files to play on stand alone DVD players. There is also a batch processing program, batchXtoDVD. So you can just add a few files to the job list and leave it to run overnight if you want.
  11. I think someone is giving one away at the moment on freecycle
  12. If you go on a site like scan.co.UK and look at different types of PSU, atx, micro atx, mini itx etc. and look at the specs. It should tell you the size for each one, just see which is closest to yours.
  13. This one is supposed to be quite good, never used it myself though as I got some recovery software free with a memory card. Good luck.. http://www.piriform.com/recuva/download
  14. I have warned him it's not going to be a cheap repair. I suppose I will have to get my hand in my pocket if he's struggling to afford it
  15. Trouble is he loves the phone, so wants to get it repaired
  16. Hi all, My son has managed to break the screen on his Samsung Galaxy S2 Just wondering if anyone on here can recommend a mobile phone repairer? Doesn't have to be local, so long as the work is good (and hopefully, the price is reasonable). Thanks for reading
  17. Go on freecycle, people are often giving them away so long as you don't need it in a hurry
  18. Has anyone had any feedback from Sky about going to fibre optic?
  19. At about £180, I don't know that I'd call it cheap
  20. Found these on ebay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Torchy-2400mAh-18650-3-7v-Li-ion-batteries-protective-case-Top-Quality-/290693487194?pt=UK_ConsumerElectronics_Batteries_SM&hash=item43aeae9a5a considering the price, these might be worth a go.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-RECHARGEABLE-3-7V-18650-2400mAh-UltraFire-Battery-/170620100856?pt=UK_ConsumerElectronics_Batteries_SM&hash=item27b9c020f8
  21. Firstly, measure the motherboard. It's probably going to be ATX (12"x9.5" approx) or M-ATX (9"x9" approx.). Most ATX cases will also take M-ATX motherboards. The best case I've bought recently has been this one http://www.ebuyer.com/276197-fractal-design-arc-case-fd-ca-arc-bl It's build quality is the best I've ever had for the money. If you have a M-ATX board there is a smaller version http://www.ebuyer.com/280421-fractal-design-arc-mini-case-fd-ca-arc-mini-bl
  22. I'm after a single 570 for my system and with the prices falling as they are I think I'll be getting a second SSD and running them in raid 0
  23. The trouble with a full water cooling loop is they're so expensive to do properly. Having said that, a full loop will give you more overclocking headroom.
  24. If your not going to do any major overclocking then a good quality air cooler or a cooler like Corsair's 'H' series is a good investment. I've got a Noctua NH-D14 on my i7 2700K and when I take it up to 4.6Ghz it averages at 75 deg across all the cores and is very quiet too. If you do go for a 'H' series cooler though, stay clear of the H50, it's just not up to the job. The H70, H80 or H100 are better options. Only drawback with a big air cooler is, depending on the mobo, some of the RAM slots may be covered.
