  1. Me too. I also have an EDC on my person at all times. I never hurt a soul with it, other than myself. In this country we have some of the strictest gun laws in the world. Air rifles limited to 12 ftlb muzzle energy (without an FAC), pistols limited to 6 ftlb. I own air rifles and hunting knives which are used to hunt and prepare game for consumption in the field. If some thinks I am breaking the law for owning or using these items please explain why? If retailers follow the law, what are they doing wrong? Someone posted a shop selling hunting knives was full of teenagers. Was the retailer seen selling to the teenagers?
  2. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html This plays just about anything. Give it a try.
  3. I know with my laptop I have to go into the display settings and change to 'output to projector' to get my display to come up on the TV via HDMI
  4. Sometimes it's simply not worth the postage costs to have their faulty goods returned. I have had this happen to me a couple of times.
  5. Why don't you try converting a short vid to different file formats and just see if any work? I have a philips tv which will play some mkv, avi and mp4's but not all. Sometimes it's just a case of trial and error.
  6. I'm running my 3770K at [email protected] vcore and it doesn't get over 70 deg when running at 100% for over an hour with my noctua NH-D14
  7. You should be able to get an add-in graphics card that is better than on-board graphics for about £40-50. A couple of examples are... http://www.ebuyer.com/451886-msi-gt-630-2gb-ddr3-vga-dvi-hdmi-pci-e-graphics-card-n630gt-md2gd3 and http://www.ebuyer.com/507106-evga-nvidia-gt-610-passive-810mhz-1000mhz-1024mb-64-bit-ddr3-vga-hdmi-01g-p3-2613-kr if you want something quiet and low power consumption. Both are more than capable of giving full hd output on your tv monitor.
  8. Not in my experience. Recently needed a new bios chip for my P67 Sabertooth. Emailed Asus customer service and four days later it arrived with up-to-date bios installed. I couldn't have been happier. I'm not saying this has been everyones experience but I'm sure everyone has their own customer service horror story Personally I wouldn't consider changing the mobo. The difference you would see would be marginal at best. Save your money towards a full upgrade (mobo, memory & cpu). Just my opinion though, no doubt someone will disagree..
  9. I've always used Asus motherboards (apart from one Abit board many moons ago). Always served me well. My last one is still going strong after 7 years of abuse!
  10. Just to update this thread. Fitted the Ivybridge cpu and the pc failed to boot. Contacted Asus who kindly posted out a new bios chip with the latest bios on it. Pc now running at 4.4ghz @1.1v when the turbo kicks in. Hottest core running at 62 deg C when stress testing.
  11. Dropbox is great for sharing and saving photos too. I think they offer you extra storage space if you use the mobile app.
  12. Really sounds like the op should leave the overclocking alone. As stated previously, sounds like they are being kicked for too high a ping or connection speed.
  13. Don't know if this helps because I have excel 2010. click format> format cells. On the left of the box you've just opened is a list of categories, select custom. Select the option '0.00' this forces two decimal places and displays the zero's you want.
  14. May be it's different if the pub is paying the subscription? I know I went somewhere where sky's cloud provided the wifi and I couldn't connect even though I was a sky TV customer but after I changed my broadband over to sky I could connect. May be it's just a roaming thing
  15. I'm pretty sure you have to be a sky broadband customer to use their cloud service. I have been somewhere before where the wifi Sky's cloud, but you still had to be a sky broadband customer before you could access it.
  16. Just installed DVD shrink to give it a try after a long break. Managed to rip and burn The Matrix in just under 10 minutes
  17. I use handbrake to rip dvd's and convertxtodvd to burn them. Never had a problem. If you live near S21, drop in for a coffee and have a look.
  18. I've got an Intel cooler that came with my i7 3770k doing nothing? You can have it for a small fee. regards, Lee
  19. Not sure what size case you're looking for but bitfenix prodigy cases really look good and don't cost the earth. You can kill a lot of noise in your pc by using good quality fans and fan speed reducers or a fan controller. My case is sat at the side of me on my desk and uses fractal and noctua fans running on 12v. The only noise I can hear is the air flow from the back of the case. I know you said some parts can be 'lower-end' but silence comes at a price. 20. I've got a 160gb laptop hard drive in an external caddy plugged straight into the usb port on my phillips tv. Seems to play most avi's, mp4's and mkv's. The one at the maplin link has usb and says to attach external drives.
  21. Definitely the psu at fault. I have had this before and had exactly the same result. Modern psu's have a single 12v rail to run power-hungry graphics cards. My corsair hx750 can put 62a (744 watts) through the 12v rail. Your psu has two 12v rails but can only push a max. of 32a in each rail. Then of course it will have become less efficient with age. You may find that a 500w PSU of a modern design will be enough, but it can never hurt to have power to spare.
  22. Hi all, I have been given a CM Stacker case by a generous forum member and need to replace the foam dust filters. Does anyone know where I can buy a sheet of dust filter foam I can cut to shape? I've looked on eBay and found some, 300mm square sheet for approx. £7.20 + £4.50 p&p :gag: There's got to be somewhere cheaper or local I can get some?
  23. If you want the practice but don't want to waste a lot of money, why not try and pick up some second hand parts? There's always something half decent for sale, you may even get some freebies or some good advice along the way.
