The firefighters don't sleep constantly through the night. They have 'chores' - making sure the appliances are action worthy, washing & cleaning kit, inspections of kit etc In my opinion the union is pushing a strike to emphasize that a change from 9 hour days & 15 hour nights, to 12 hours for day & night is a big change to your lifestyle, which it is. With this shift change there will be no disruptions to the service to the public, i think it's the management trying to even things out. My opinion anyway!

My friends daughter-in-law has had a scan recently, and they were told the baby weighed 4lb something.. quite intrigued how they do this?! Is it something to do with the measurements, or can they somehow work out with the weight of the mother from one scan to the next?
