  2. I would recommend both of you to follow this blog http://eaterspot.wordpress.com/ Though I am an Indian student in Sheffield since 3 years, I guess it will be unfair on my part to teach you. But any doubts or any problem, just pm me and I will help you out.I love cooking especially Indian cooking. As I have been eating it all my life
  3. Just ordered food last time from just-eat.co.uk and this time we chose Guru to Go...fab indian food I had in a long time...101% better than local curry houses whose food is full of oil and same flavourless taste... Though it took 45 mins to deliver...I was suprised with the packaging...lovely food boxes and hot food (as in the temperature) as it was raining heavily and was cold. We ordered 1 starter,2 main course,2 nans and 1 rice for just ÂŁ12-ÂŁ13 pounds...it seems they do this deal from monday-thursday... Will definately try again...
  4. Hi All, I have been coming to raise this concern over sometime now. I really feel bus 22 run by First is of no good use.I am a regular traveller by this bus. And it covers distance from Wybourn to Netheredge I believe. I leave from work at 5pm. And reach Cathedral by 5:15pm. According to the timetable there is bus after every 10mins until 6:15pm. But I dont see any bus coming after 5:10pm...the only bus after this is around 5:40pm...this is really frustrating as it happens everday....and then at 5:40pm you have two buses coming together which according to me is sheer waste. I do understand this time is really busy, everyone is going home, there is lots of congestion and traffic on the road but this happens everyday....The 5:10pm bus and 5:30pm bus come on time....only the middle one goes missing and comes late every single time. I dont understand why ? I am lucky to stay nearby so I can take other buses if I like but I feel sad for the other hundred commuters who have no other option but to travel only by 22. This is utter ridiculous. I have put a complain regarding this in First but I dont think anyone will even be bothered about this. I just want to share my bit of concern and frustration...lol
  5. Thanks alot everyone for your kind words... It really motivates me to post few more recipes as I really like it when it makes someones day out there... So check this out... Making Chicken Briyani can be an intimidating process, however its a very easy Indian dish! This wasn’t my first time in making briyani but I have never made it in an electric rice cooker! Saturday was the day! I worked with precision because I did not want a briyani disaster, after all it was the first time my boy friend eating my briyani. His report after eating it was that I beat the lady he thought was the best in briyani here in Sheffield. I don’t think he was trying to impress me because he ate a WHOLE LOT. The following is the measurements that I used. You can play around with the numbers depending on how many people you are cooking for – all you need to remember is: you need to have lots of “gravy liquid” – more info on that below. Ingredients: Chicken: I skinned and soaked the chicken in salt and lemon juice (something my mom taught). This removes the stink and slippery fat feeling on the meat (did that sound gross? LOL). Give it a good rinse and let it sit Onion:I cut a good amount of 0nions. I went with 2 large onions Tomatoes: Dice 3 juicey tomatoes Ginger & Garlic Paste: You can get this at the store, or you can make a home-made mixture of garlic and ginger, and get about 4tbsp worth of it. Chillies: Depending on your taste, chop up a few. Heat some oil in a good size deep pot. Often ghee is used in Indian dishes, but since I didn’t have any, I added a little butter for some flavor along with the oil. When the oil is hot, throw in some cumin seeds, and a few small pieces of cinnamon stick. Add your onions and sauté until it becomes clear. Next add the ginger and garlic paste. Mix everything together and let it cook. Put a bay leaf or two. Couple of minutes later add the tomatoes. Masala powder is what you will need next (which can be bought from any Tesco/Sainsbury/Waitrose or any other grocery store. I have a Briyani masala mix, so I added 2 tbsp to the onion-tomatoes mix and let it cook. There won’t be much water, so I added about a cup and let it cook for a minutes. Next I added the chicken and gave everything a good stir – and added the required amount of salt. As it cooked, I added 2 more cups of water, and checked the masala quantity and added a bit more of the briyani masala to balance the spice-salt proportion. Add some fresh minced coriander. I let this cook in the pot, until the chicken was completely done. Once it was over, I had lots of thick gravy. This is vital for the next step. I took 3 cups of rice and washed it really well in water. Often people directly cook the rice without washing, I have been taught to wash to remove the dirt, sand, and every other powdered rubbish. Also: The smell of washed rice once cooked is different than when its not washed Rice has a 1:2 ratio when cooked. Coat the bottom of the electric cooker pot with a little bit of oil. I keep the water for last, and measure the gravy liquid. I used 3 cups rice. I got about 3 cups of gravy and I used 3 cups of water. I mixed the rice with the water and the gravy liquid with the chicken together. Check for salt and add some accordingly. Turn the rice cooker on to cook, and you are done! Once its over, I let it sit for a little bit and moved it to a serving bowl. I served it nice and hot with lots of love and some home-made raita. Raita is an accompaniment with Biryani ( Churned curd mixed with dice cucumber, tomato, onions and seasoning of salt and pepper). Hope you guys enjoy this one too... Keep your feedback coming in

  7. Dear all, I know this sounds a bit strange to ask on a forum. But I have been dealing with this problem now over a year and cant take it anymore. It really freaks me out to think to wake up one fine day all bald :( I am 24 year old girl. I have suddenly started loosing hair...n which has results in hair loss and I have got really thin hairs. And I just hate it. I don't know what is wrong. I shampoo my hair thrice a week with Garnier Fructis and even use the same conditioner. And I often straighten my hair at home with a help of Argos straighter...as after wash they turn wavy I would be really grateful if someone can suggest me an alternative shampoo/ conditoner package...which has helped them and reduced their hair fall. Or any something protein supplements or any other nurishments from the chemist for my hair. Any good suggestion is welcomed... me Thanks for hearnig out my plight...
  8. Ditto at KFC , McD and other outlets....I used to work at KFC few months back...And belive me I was shocked to see the amount of buns, cheese, sauces they waste just because it is 1 day closer to the expiry date or just passsed as the customers would moan... Same with cooked chicken pieces and even frozen ones too I feel sad seeing this...it could be give to the less fortunate and the under privileged...
  9. I went in last night with my boyfriend after a tummy filled dinner in Chaman. But as I entered the cafe and looked at the laid out pasteries...I felt a sudden pang of hunger again We ordered a large chocolate cake and sat in a cosy corner. It was really soft and yummy and really too big compared to pasteries we usually have. It cost me just ÂŁ1.70 And while leaving I packed another two cakes for takeout...which where ÂŁ1.30 each. Quite cheap for the size and taste plus the fresh cream. Over all nice comfortable place for coffee n cake...lunch n dinner They are open till 11pm weekdays... I will definately come back for more
  10. Hello, Though I am a vegertarian but my friends enjoy having chicken alot. So I thought why not cook something for them which they will always relish. So thought of preparing Chicken Tikka Curry for them in the Indian way last week. And the verdict was - yummy !!!! want some more plz... So I just thought of sharing the recipe with you guys as you can yourself make it at home and suprise your beloved.... (n save spending ÂŁÂŁÂŁ on those stupid takeaways). Here is the recipe... Ingredients: Part A: 2 lbs. boneless chicken breast 1/4 cup yogurt 3 tsp minced ginger 3 tsp crushed garlic 1/4 tsp white pepper 1/4 tsp cumin powder 1/4 tsp mace 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp green cardamom powder 1/4 tsp chili powder 1/4 tsp turmeric 3 tbsp lemon juice 4 tbsp vegetable oil Melted margarine (for basting) Part B: 5 oz. tomato paste 10 oz. tomato puree 2 lbs. tomatoes, chopped 2 tsp ginger paste 2 tsp garlic paste 2 tsp green chilies 1 tbsp red chili powder 2 tsp cloves 8 green cardamoms Salt To Taste 3 tbsp butter 2/3 cup cream 1 tsp fenugreek 2 tsp ginger, julienned honey to taste Preparation: Whisk all of the ingredients in Part A together in a large bowl. Add the chicken breast, cut into 2 inch cubes. Marinate overnight in the refrigerator. Preheat oven to 350Âş F. Bake the chicken for 8 minutes, basting with margarine twice. Drain excess marinade and bake for another 2 minutes. While doing this, make the sauce in Part B. Deseed and chop green chilies. Put tomatoes, tomato paste and tomato puree in a pot and add approximately 4-1/4 cups of water. Add ginger and garlic paste, green chilies, red chili powder, cloves, cardamoms, and salt. Cook over low heat until reduced to a thick sauce. Strain through a strainer and bring to a boil. Add butter and cream. Stir. If the sauce tastes sour, add honey to taste. Add fenugreek and ginger juliennes, stir, and serve with the chicken tikka masala Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed preparing it
  11. I felt so discriminated today... I had called up a reputed agency today morning...(wont disclose the name) asking them about a job vacancy which they had published just 1 hour ago. But after talking to me though I had the required qualification and proper experience they told me a clear cut NO...and said all the places have been filled. Like in 1 hours time 75 positions where filled...and they thought I will buy that. After 20 mins I made my friend called them up as she was also looking for a job. And they took her in and fixed an appointment for interview. I felt so bad so discriminated. Both of us are outsiders in this country. I speak such fluent English which can even put them to shame. What I lack is just the accent. Otherwise no mistakes in grammer. That was so rubbish. I felt so be-littled. And this is not the first time it has happened...that agency has repeated this atleast 3-4 times on different occasions. I just feel like sueing them ...but dnt know how to go about or follow the legal system. Never left so humilated. I am modest and can except the truth if told om my face not in this way. Just because after sometime my friend called up with a fake accent they took her in. That is so unfair
  12. Actually I can do away with it...but it is always good to have someone to help you bit with makeup and hair.
  13. Hi I'm looking for somewhere in Sheffield that will do a make-over and photo shoot . I haven't got the foggiest where to start looking and so thought I'd throw it out to the usually very knowledgable forum users I am working part time so I really cannot afford real expensive photographers. So anyone just wanting to practise or get an experience are also welcomed. We can negotiate the price. Please help me with suggestion in Sheffield. I remember there is one at London Road but cant remember the name. Thanks in advance

  20. I know this sounds too cliche -"The world's going to end soon" But right now sitting here I am feeling quite miserable reading the news... Since the start of the year 2010, something or other is happening. The world is facing the wrath of nature. We are getting prone to calamities and disasters more and more day by day. Haiti, Chile, Japan and today severe tremors of earthquakes were felt in China too I think it is the nature's way of getting back to us. And it should be doing it because in someways all of us are equally responsible or exploiting it for our benefits and not looking back even once...
  21. heheh...thts really so creative...u really made me feel better after the guilt of shopping today !!! anyways i m off to sleep nighty night all wonderful people out there
