Youths in Wadsley bridge Sainsburys
NorthernStar replied to Janus's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Actually, this youth might be onto something there, if only the supermarket doors were a little wider and the checkouts a little further apart we could have drive through shopping trips. Drive through supermarkets it's the way to go. -
The Sheffield Tap pub - railway station bar
NorthernStar replied to Andy C's topic in Going out in Sheffield
Maybe they don't want to encourage pished punters wobbling over to play on the platforms upsetting passengers and falling onto the tracks. -
Crazy amount of traffic today? 19-05-2015
NorthernStar replied to gamezone07's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
At about 4.40 I came into Sheffield down Meadowhead then down Brammal lane and up past the uni on Hanover street, I normally expect bad traffic going that way but I've never done it so quickly. Maybe the traffic management people have been trying some new traffic light timings or something. -
How much crime is there in your area?
NorthernStar replied to Dude111's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Not too sure whether these stats are worth a great deal, having had my tyres slashed along with many of my neighbours last month I tried to call the 101 number to get this crime logged; after half an hour in an automated queue I gave up. I wonder how many other crimes fail to get logged because there's no-one to answer the phone. -
Judging from the efit picture I'd day he's probably possessed by the devil, if I saw someone like that gawking through my front room windows I'd be out of the back door before you could say 'Damien'.

British stock market trader arrested-fair or not?
NorthernStar replied to lil-minx92's topic in General Discussions
I'm sure he's guilty of something but as alisonmanic alluded to he's being made a patsy of so the bigger players never have to answer to their crimes. The US appears to be losing it's collective marbles as it tries to come to terms with not being the number 1 economy anymore. -
'Click Here' ......then click on the planes to highlight and read info about them in the side panel.

Trouble with spending too much at asda is that it puts you in the red and that's why we all have the blues:( -
Just read a short article about beards and remembered that there was a thread on here about the crap people put into their beards. So I thought I'd share it > Here.<

AAAh I see you did exactly what I did, you were bored witless with the first recommended vid so toddled off to make a coffee and when You came back the 'next up' had started and found that infinitely more interesting.

Can anyone recommend a decent kettle!
NorthernStar replied to Magneteer's topic in General Discussions
I've just thrown my old kettle out even though it was still working fine it was just a bit manky; it amused me when I looked at the label and found it was manufacture for woolworths - when did they close, it must be many years ago. -
ebay will return a decent and fair price for it, perhaps more. Just make sure you have a good description and clear photos.

You make the assumption that the kind of people who do this sort of thing have the capacity to think once, let alone twice.

One of the most educational videos I've ever seen on the subject of fiat currencies and what has gone wrong (and right) with them is here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDtBSiI13fE It's a bit of a long documentary but if you really want to know how we got to where we are and understand more on the subject then stick with it, it's an eye opener.

Electronic information at tram/bus stops
NorthernStar replied to Bilge's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
It would only confuse passengers because the blue route going the other way already says Halfway. -
Quite frankly I wouldn't care who sold the councils assets as long as there was good reasons for doing so and a fair price was obtained along with a set of contractually agreed conditions.
-
An interesting link, thanks for posting it.

Does the council own the land? If so why are kier selling it? How much are they asking or is the deal already a done one? Does this land have any planning permission or restrictions with this proposed sale?
-
I think if they want to mess about with their watches then they should but expecting everyone else to is a tad arrogant if you ask me.

Cryptocurrencies - do you have some?
NorthernStar replied to Solomon1's topic in General Discussions
Everything you say is a possibility but do you know of a 100% safe investment? As I type, on my desk is a genuine 10 Trillion Dollar note, from the reserve bank of Zimbabwe (larger denominations were available), I bought it off ebay for a couple of quid just for novelty value. Back in the 80's the Zimbabwe Dollar was probably worth about 50p and considered to be a stable and respectable currency. Due to borrowing too much money (like our government) Zimbabwe eventually couldn't honour it's debts to the IMF so they came up with the idea of money printing (like our government); they carried on with their 'QE' until there was enough available currency to pay off their instalments to the IMF, but market forces kept caching up; So larger and larger amounts had to be created until finally they had to give up on it. On the face of it, the Zimbabwe storey is comical but underlying that there are life savings, pensions etc. and real human tragedy behind it and if there is any way I can hedge against such an event happening here I'd like to know about it. -
Cryptocurrencies - do you have some?
NorthernStar replied to Solomon1's topic in General Discussions
At some point I'd like to get some bitcoins (or other crypto) but putting your all into one investment/savings class is folly IMO. I don't think it is silly to invest in BC, there are bitcoin millionaires out there and no one can know what the future has in store for us, even the future pensions and national bond markets are beginning to look a bit ropey to me so I'm spreading my bets and I'm becoming more reluctant use established methods of investing for the time being (though I do have a few shares). For me I'm stacking some physical silver at the moment even though a lot of pundits are saying that the price will fall further I'm betting on it for the longer term. -
As the title says there is apparently a toxic smog alert, it looks pretty clear outside in my neck of the woods and I don't feel any ill effects myself. Has anyone else noticed any toxic smog or suffered with any breathing difficulties? Read All About It!

There's 100's of the things stored up near the ski village, might be worth you wondering up the to see how much they charge. -
I had a connection problem at around 5.30 - 6.00 pm when I got home from work but after restarting my modem everything has been fine since.
