  1. If it was the same manager that i knew in the early fifties he lived on Stubbin lane half way up to "lane top". He was a bit of a "mr mannering" type of guy, and when i got a little older i used to share the bus stop with him on the odd occasion when on my way to work(english Steel corporation) . He was actually a very nice guy who would help anybody out, but when it came to quitening a couple of hundred noisy kids well, he was the bizz! pity they dont have a few thou of his kind in some of the schools today, they would be far better off. (not knocking teachers mind you- they have their hands tied by too much paperwork, elf n safety, and not being allowed to dish out the appropriate measures for bad behavior-"ouch"that hurt sir!) Fourpence to get in then Janner!
  2. During the interval at the Paragon on sicey avenue - firth park they used to have a skiffle group- we loved them, along with the "joystick" lollipops. Some times during the performance some wag would flick a piece of screwed up wrapper from an ice cream into the path of the films projection causing a black image to go across the screen, if it occurred to many times all the lights would come on and the manager would threaton to close the show and send everyone home. He was very stern :mad:and the mischief always stopped at that point :roll:as no-one wanted to miss the serial that we had all been waiting to see from the previous week.kids hey:gag:
