  1. Yes he did everything by the book other than this and has made a really good job. He didn't do the roof opposite so looks like we've been singled out
  2. No he's far from a bodger, says he's never heard anything like it. The guy who lives opposite has a new roof and he didn't do anything either and hasn't had to pay out anything
  3. We already have some insulation fitted, we just haven't had it changed. Surely we don't have to have the roof taken off and new insulation put in???
  4. We've just had a new roof fitted and had a nasty letter from the council stating that we have done unauthorised work and we have to make a formal submission for Building Regulations Approval. We then have to have the work inspected and get a certificate. It states this is because the thermal element (insulation) will have been upgraded which we haven't had done. Is this right? They're wanted £120 from us!
  5. I don't have a problem with either of those and always go in if i'm in Manchester. I just think there should be more intermediary shops that cater for everyone
  6. Why is it an odd thing to say? Everyones entitled to their opinion. Seems to be all designer shops opening up these days with extortionate prices.
  7. Does the OP just post threads to cause animosity?
  8. Thats ridiculous about asking the toy shop to move to make that area more upmarket. Getting too many snobby shops in Meadowhall for my liking
  9. Wouldn't they be better in kennels where they will be walked etc...
  10. Yea they were for face value but I've sold them now anyway. Thanks though
  11. Hi, is there somewhere to sell tickets on here? Can't seem to find a category they would go into? Thanks
  12. I drove through at the weekend to visit my Dad who unfortunately lives nearby, just off Bolsover Road. I was gobsmacked! I grew up here and it looked like someone had took several tips worth of refuse and dumped it all over the pavements. Who is it dropping it? Don't they know how to use a bin? Aren't there supposed to be fines for dropping litter? So is anyone watching who is doing it?
  13. Hmmm so they change the 17 so it runs from my end of the woods(nr prince of wales rd) to my 80yr old dad at Firth Park, change it to a 38 (no problem) and now i have to go back to catching two buses. Thanks First!
  14. I rarely burn anything but if i were too and i saw lots of people were out i would wait and if people had washing out i would just give them a knock to warn them. I guess not everyone is like that though :/
  15. Where can i go tomorrow afternoon for a really nice carvery that won't be absolutely rammed? Usually go to Toby Carvery, wondered if there were better. Ta
  16. I'm just up the road and they've been doing the main roads 7pm-7am
  17. Hi Does anyone know of any sewing courses in the nr future? I'm a complete novice so need to know the basics. Thanks
  18. 3 months, thats really good. Do you mind me asking for prices etc... and how many lessons you had?
  19. Long shot but does anyone have instructions for the Argos/Homebase Alfie cabin bed?? Thanks
  20. So basically only size the wall im papering or it will go all gooey when i try to paint it? haha
  21. After doing many searches on the tinterweb i have gleaned that on my newly skimmed walls i should: Paint all the walls and ceiling twice with watered down emulsion and then 'size' the wall i am wallpapering with watered down wallpaper paste. Is this right?? Ta ---------- Post added 24-04-2014 at 20:59 ---------- Anyone????
  22. Well he's just left after day 3 and still hasn't finished. The walls which are now dry don't look too bad, think he's done some sanding on those today but he was here 6 hrs and all he's done is skim one wall, tidy up and put glue on the ceiling to skim it again!
  23. He is plastering in my upstairs bedroom. I am downstairs. I wouldn't observe him while he is working
  24. No but i think the person who is doing the job, i.e the plasterer is responsible
  25. Seriously??? Should i provide the tools and the plaster too? Never heard anything so ridiculous
