  8. Am after some advice as i'm in uncharted territory. My father is 81yrs old and was diagnosed with IPF in June this yr(an incurable lung condition) He currently lives in a 3 storey terrace which is up for sale. His condition has deteriorated since his diagnosis and he now struggles to even get out of a chair, the stairs are a nightmare and he is housebound. So we are trying to get him a wheelchair accessible flat or bungalow. Social Services appointed him a worker who has said in order to get council property and get to the top of the priority list he has to be referred for a medical priority assessment. This in itself can take up to 12wks for an appointment. Time is of the essence right now and i feel this is unfair. He has never had cause to use the council for anything in his life and worked every day of his life for 50yrs. Is there anything other than renting privately that can be done? Thanks for any help!
  9. Thanks for your replies! The flat they offered him had steps which considering he needs to use a wheelchair is a bit ridiculous so back to looking for somewhere else now!

  16. Can i ask what your kids school policy on headlice is?? My son has just had them after starting secondary 2 wks ago. I notified school saying we had treated him but maybe to warn other parents as he wasn't the first. Had a reply from the Head this morning saying it is their policy to deal with the individuals rather than to warn other parents. I would have thought letting everyone know they are going around school would help to solve the problem?? Also one of the girls in the same yr as my son was sent home and told not to come back til they were gone. Is that normal?? Thanks
  17. Sadly I can't really just leave them there. I have an autistic son who is petrified

  19. Hi Over the last few hours we've seen several bees trying to get into the vent on the side of our kitchen(which leads into the roof space of our extension) I thought they were wasps but hubby says they are definitely bees. Some of the holes look like they have been blocked with mud and some are blocked with mud but with round holes in. Haven't actually seen them go in the holes but they're definitely hovering around there. As i say it's only a few but do you think there could be a hive in there or would there be evidence of more? What should i do? Thanks
