  1. Technically you are paying for time I.e. 60mins, it doesn't really matter if the time on the machine is fast or slow compared to your clock as you've paid for an hour and should be back on of before the hour. However the warden will go on the time on the machine. They will also report the machine if it's more than 5 minutes out so they will have a log of it
  2. The parking wardens check the p&d machine including the time displayed. They also allow an additional 10 minutes after the p&d ticket expires(against the time on the p&d machine) so you will never be shortchanged.
  3. Not in the knowledge test but... they also must pass a driving skills test which covers that. Just like when you pass your driving test, drivers ignore the basics ---------- Post added 17-11-2018 at 14:57 ---------- Like most legislation, it can be manipulated and loop holes used to allow taxis licensed outside of Yorkshire to be used.
  4. 1. Is it computer based exam? Or 2. Is it written exam? It's currently a written exam, you get 1 hour to complete. This will be changing to a computer based exam early 2019. 3. What is the difference between "route test" and "District of Sheffield" Test? A route test are specific location to location I.e. sheffield Wednesday stadium to Meadowhall. A district of sheffield test is district to district I.e. Norton to woodseats. For both sections you need to name each road to get from one place to the other using the quickest/shortest route. 4. Can you please provide a sample of the above both Tests? An example of each is above but no samples available and will not be provided by licensing services. 5. I understand there are three sections of Test. Should be re appeared all those three sections again even if I passed one or two of them? 80% pass rate is required for each section. You fail one section the while test will need to be resit. The test itself is pretty difficult and requires A lot of studying to pass. Ive have a wealth of experience with roads in Sheffield and it's not easy to name every road on a route that could go from Crystal Peake to grenoside. ---------- Post added 17-11-2018 at 12:31 ---------- Uber use drivers licensed by sheffield city council and therefore will have passed the knowledge test. The downside of uber is that they can use drivers within Yorkshire so a chesterfield driver that may not have a clue about a single road in Sheffield and wouldn't have done the knowledge test could take you.
  5. You will pay a fair bit for one installed. Give it a go yourself by looking at YouTube. I've fitted loads in my cars over the years
  6. Bt openreach have surveyed quite alot of sites for the fibre cabinets in outibridge over the last couple of months.if all goes to plan the cabinets will provide fibre within 4 months. It can be delayed for things such as blocked ducts so they need to excavate in the carriageway, but then it becomes a cost exercise to decide if it's financially viable. It was showing in my area as available within a few months but shown this message for almost 2 years. By openreach don't have a clue and won't give you a date other than it will be updated on the system. It's a case of wait and see I'm afraid. I'm now on 76mb download and 20mb upload for 25quid a month
  7. The bus gates are manually observed all day by an operator along with the wicker and Hillsborough corner bus gates. They can only log the details of one bus gate contravention at a time. Not sure why they would review footage throughout the day as they can't issue a bus lane pcn retrospectively and won't gain anything from it.
  8. Sheffield city council highways department approved working from 8.30am due to traffic being much lighter during school term time. This allows the works to be completed much quicker reducing delays stretching over a longer period of time. Lane closures will stop during peak times from the 4th September when the kids go back to school.
  9. Maximum stay bays e.g 4 hours normally have a 'no return' period, is a max stay bay doesn't state a 'no return' time it means that you are not permitted to re-park within the bay for the rest of the day. this also means that if you leave the bay and return straight back or roll the car forward a few inches the parking contravention 're-parked' would have occurred. The parking warden would have taken your valve positions at the start of the logging and come back later to see if the valve positions changed, if they haven't changed you've overstayed, if they have changed you've re-parked. either way a PCN will be issued. the bays will fit several cars in them as they aren't individually marked out but there are usually several separate bays on a street that you can 'bay swap' i.e park in on bay say on the left hand side of the road for the maximum time but then park your car in the other bay on the opposite side of the road for the maximum stay and keep doing that. your'e not supposed to use the bays like this but there's nothing stopping you doing it, that's how the nurses park all day within the area. ---------- Post added 03-11-2016 at 16:52 ---------- Controlled Parking Zone signs(CPZ) are controlling the single yellow line times of restrictions within the CPZ, bays are signed up individually denoting the times of restriction. observant ---------- Post added 03-11-2016 at 16:58 ---------- your valves could be in the same place later on, by whatever means, but a PCN would be issued for overstay as it would appear to the CEO that you have not moved. If you was to challenged the PCN on that basis and say you returned and not overstayed the PCN would be upheld due to the valve positions being the same when observed initially and observed again after the max stay. Why would your understanding be that you can top up a ticket if there isn't a no return within X time. Your definition would make the bay a non max stay bay which would mean its pointless even stating on the sign that its a max stay bay.
  10. Mushroom lane has pay and display bays. The pay and display machine was robbed over the weekend. There's no nearby machine. This means free parking until a new machine is installed.
  11. Molar is correct. The bus lane enforcement is actually if you didn't take the left onto the parkway and continued through the wicker past IMRANS as that section is monitored as it's a bus gate. So you did exactly what you should do.
  12. It was arranged by our neighbour that we went halves on. The builder arrived but I had to leave for work. I will be contacting the builder tomorrow as I wouldn't have paid them a penny never mind £240. That's not gonna last this winter never mind the next few years.
  13. The work paid for were to remove 4 chimney stacks and put 1 shared stack and re point. What we got is a different story but before we go back to th builder I want a full list errors made.
  14. Here's the pictures, fran can't upload them since she's a new user. There's 3 photographs in the photo bucket album.
  15. the camera van runs until 6.30p. when the clearway restrictions end. the evening parking warden team consists of one van that has the entire area of sheffield to patrol, it not the fact that firvale is rough that they dont go there, its the fact that the vehicles owners are working in the nearby shops and as soon as they see the wardens they jump in their car and drive off. its a cat and mouse game that the wardens dont have time for. people moan about traffic wardens, well you cant have it both ways. if you get more they can patrol more areas but then they will be accused of trying to raise revenue. ---------- Post added 01-11-2014 at 02:37 ---------- its also the fact that the parking manager needs to justify sending wardens out there, if no one complains to them, theres not a problem. give them a call to raise a complaint as they must then attend, their number is 0114 2736255.
