  1. Try Sylvester Space, it's near the centre of town (behind Decathlon sports store) http://www.sylvesterspace.com/
  2. "Doesn't the fact that you've been unemployed for over a year give you a bit of a clue that there simply aren't any jobs available in your chosen career at the moment??" - No, it tells me that for all the jobs I apply for, there are many applicants. Perhaps my CV needs polishing. Perhaps a work trial would be suitable. The job market is slow, but there are oppurtunities out there. "And of course Remploy will probably get some money for getting you into a job - that's what flexible new deal is all about." - they should earn it. So far they haven't done anything, they haven't found me any jobs, or given me any advice in my career path. I do not feel treated as an individual, my skills and experience are being put to one side to make me work in unskilled labour, so they can make money. That is not providing the service they should. "That would hardly be an incentive to actually work hard to get people into jobs, would it?" They aren't working hard, they are taking an easy option by pressuring me into an unsuitable job.
  3. I'm currently attending Remploy, on Flexible New Deal. I have had the pleasure of attending A4e before (TOTAL waste of time), and I prefer the one-to-one service I'm getting at Remploy rather than the oversubscribed, classroom system at A4e. However, I feel I'm being pressured to take a job at either the Cadbury's factory doing production line work, or a job at B&Q. I get the impression that Remploy would benefit from me getting a job at one of these places, perhaps a financial incentive, or maybe just filling a quota of people put into work to satisfy their contract with the government. Neither of these jobs are suitable for my skills, experience or the type of work I want to do. I resent being pressured into an unhappy situation (doing a job I would dislike for not much more money than I get on benefits) for someone else to tick boxes, or get a kickback. I've heard of a "mandatory four week work placement" that is part of flexible new deal - I wonder how suitable the placement they make me do will be compared to my past employment and job I want to do. The career I want (and have worked in for over 4 years, not including the past year - there's a recession on!) is office based, but I bet you they will make me work in a factory, or warehouse, or retail. "Our range of employment services are designed to help you get the job that's right for you." I haven't experienced that yet.
  4. Was that during the WWII re-enactment, right at the front?

  6. As a smoker, and a non-driver, I refuse to take criticism from anyone who owns a car. The fact is that cars pollute the atmosphere more than cigarettes do. Most of the non-smokers who complain about tobacco smoke are more than happy to sit in traffic, or walk down a busy street, inhaling exhuast fumes. You give up your car, I'll give up my ciggies. Do you own a car, Bilbo?
  7. Yeah, the best I've ever had was in Bradford too, but in Sheffield it's either Jumeira or Hakim's on London road
  8. Try Virgin Media, you don't have to have a land line to get an internet connection
  9. A4e is a complete waste of time - to ask someone to jobsearch full time for 13 weeks is ridiculous. I was looking for digital graphics/design work, and my jobsearch and applications took 10 minutes per day, the rest of the time being bored and frustrated. BTW - "moo bag" - great phrase.
