  1. If I'm thinking about the same thing, I think it's going to be shown on Channel 4 in January. The salon was "Loaf" at the bottom of Meadowhead. Never been in there myself, but one of their adverts said that they give free wine, cocktails and beer to their customers...(hic)
  2. I agree 100%, I always catch the Yorkshire Terrier if I have a choice, and I've never had a bad word to say about any of their drivers - always friendly and helpful in my experience.
  3. I suppose if you do a lot of shopping at JLP and want the JLP "reward" vouchers it's quite good, otherwise it's just a very average credit card, nothing special at all.
  4. First Manchester generally increase their fares at about the same time as Sheffield. Their day ticket is currently £3.00, so I imagine it will go up round about the same time as ours.
  5. Not quite - I pay on their website using my Switch/Maestro card, never had any problems doing it this way - you can also send a cheque in the post
  6. I'm quite shocked that they could take that attitude, to be honest. Is it legal to advertise something for sale at £x.xx but have no intention of actually selling you one at that price? If they don't want to sell it, why not just take it off display? To be honest, I don't really see the point of price-matching anyway. If shop A sells it cheaper than shop B, why not just buy it from the cheaper shop, rather than going to the hassle of trying to persuade the more expensive place to drop their price?
  7. Fair enough, that sounds a bit suspect I agree. Did you ask them at the time to order one for you at the lower price?
  8. I suppose it's not really that surprising that when the price is halved, demand increases so they sell out of whatever stock they were holding (stock levels presumably being based on historical demand figures). They still should have placed an order for you though...
  9. I generally buy a SYPTE pass (Travelmaster) that I can use on any bus (First, Yorkshire Terrier etc.), tram or local train. Last time I bought one I think it worked out at around £55 a month, which compares very favourably with First's new monthly ticket priced at £54!
  10. When our cat was tiny, she would always fart when really happy and contented - which usually coincided with being curled up on my lap! She grew out of it, thankfully!!
  11. The City Hall re-opening ceremony/party/whatever is happening right now outside my office window, and it's driving me insane! For the past 40 minutes we've been bombarded with extremely loud drumming, and the (really annoying) announcer has just told us that there's more drumming to come! We're all going crackers here. "Please please please - NO MORE DRUMMERS!" (I've nothing against drummers as such, but these groups are really getting on our collective wick!)
  12. Maybe Richard Hawley's latest CD will help them answer this...
  13. In the Peace Gardens recently I heard a young mother shouting for her son - "Come 'ere our Tinsley!" A few minutes later it transpired that Tinsley had a sister - "Diamond"
  14. I got mine from Atkinsons when they were having one of their regular sales - it was 50 per cent off and another 20 per cent on top of that, bargain! (Really comfy too!!)
  15. Yes I saw them too, I particularly noticed the "youth" with the open shirt and wilting flower, though it was hillarious! The wedding photos must be quite a sight! I also enjoyed seeing some of the guests attempting to take their own version of the wedding photos using their mobile phones...
  16. We've been given a frankly ridiculous booklet on dress and appearance etc that states "beards and moustaches should only be grown in your own time" They fail to explain how this is possible...
  17. Blimey, do John Lewis run the trains now? (only joking)
  18. I'm sure you can make up something about them being a good employer with opportunities for you to progress your career development and enhance your potential... but shouldn't you really find out a bit more about the company if you're going to work for them? Sorry to sound critical but you should find out what sort of employer you are letting yourself in for!
  19. Well I was speaking as a bus passenger and pedestrian, not a driver - ok the extra crossings etc are good for pedestrians, but the loss of the bus lane definitely increases my journey times.
  20. Couldn't agree more. The bus lane was really good (not perfect, but then, what is?) and now they are totally mucking it up. They say there will be traffic lights with "bus priority" - anyone know how this is supposed to work? Somebody at the council obviously thinks we need 20-foot-wide pavements and tiny roads......
  21. ...or the St Lukes shops will send a van to pick it up.
  22. We're charged £13 per treatment, but we're lucky that our lawn joins onto the next door neighbours, so we get two lawns for the price of one! £6.50 each, well worth it.
  23. Yes, we've used them for a while now. The service 'does exactly what it says on the tin' - the grass is healthy and the lawn is free from weeds, moss, dandelions etc. Despite being only about 6 feet from a grass verge which is absolutely covered in dandelions, they have not managed to seed themselves onto our lawn since we started having the Greenthumb treatments. They call 4 times a year (spring, 2x summer, autumn). They don't mow the grass or do any other gardening work, just spread their pellets on the lawn - the pellets soon dissolve themselves to leave no visible trace. Overall, I'm pleased and will continue using them.
  24. I agree! I'm already a member of "Friends of Graves Park", and this situation has been rumbling on for ages now. There's been some controversy recently about the council's actions (or rather lack of them) re the matched funding. It seems such a shame that charities (such as FOGP) have to get involved at all, surely the council should be looking after this sort of facility....?
  25. No, but I used to sell Packard Bell computers about 10 years ago, and they were total pants - there was a website at the time called Packard Hell, all about people's nightmares with their Packard Bell kit. My advice is, scrap it and buy something else!
