  1. Help! I need to rent a van (pref. long wheel base) to move house from Thursday the 2nd Sat evening, but I have to drive over 2 hours to the new place, so I need some flexbility incase of traffic. Can anyone help finding a cheap van rental or somewhere that is more flexible with times that the Thrifty, Enterprise or other chains. Moving house is mega expensive so I am skint. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  2. No problem. If you decide you would rather go with Mifi that people have been talking about, I have a 4G enabled one that you are welcome to buy off me and try that (cheap of cause). Itll need a 4G sim from EE but its a whole heap cheaper than a second device. It entirely depends on what you are hoping to achieve, and the level of productivity required. I think the HP or the Asus would be a good choice, and if you kept your big computer powered on at home, you could use Team Viewer to achieve more power intensive tasks that the 'travel' pc can't cope with. Whatever your choice, I don't think you can go wrong at that price.
  3. If you are going down that route, I would suggest something more along the lines of this: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-stream-11-d007na-11-laptop-blue-10075697-pdt.html?gclid=CjwKEAiAmOymBRD0_evS4aTh2hUSJAB7Fkhy5xPqZQr1SnVdZ0otdZ_rsB_v0OLe4SczmG5BIyAOBRoCr2Dw_wcB&srcid=198&cmpid=ppc~gg~~~Exact&mctag=gg_goog_7904&s_kwcid=AL!3391!3!51897904459!!!g!65195593095!&ef_id=VNoXOAAAAO0zNIQ-:20150211092801:s Sorry for the super long link. It has an intel processor and whilst slightly lower specs that the one you have linked, it has more power and the a better keyboard and screen being a touch bigger. I think for the extra £30 I would splash out, and get a local warranty (ie at currys instead of sending back direct to asus) and a more comfortable keyboard. PS - I dont work for currys haha, they are the most convenient to link to being a local store.
  4. No problem. Its worth noting it can be connected to a TV or external monitor via a cable and is going to be upgraded to Windows 10 for free when this becomes available which only makes it a more compelling buy. You get a year of free Office 365 with it too, just dont forget after that year it is a month payment and if you choose not to continue youll loose your mail, unless you save and download it. If you need any more pointers once you have bought it, or with anything else, just shout up. I'll do what I can to help. Cheers.
  5. You can pick up a Microsoft endorsed Linx tablet from Sainsburys for about £75 I think and that has full windows 8.1 on board. This has full USB support and will support your dongle if your get the required micro usb to usb female adaptor (OTG adaptors perform the same.) I bought the Mrs one and she loves it. It has a bluetooth keyboard (bought separately) and has the familiar PC functionality in the more portable form factor. It also plays Civ 5, albeit slowly but it functions and it has expandable storage too. Couldn't ask for more at that price! Below is a link for the same tablet but at Currys for a few quid more; http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/ipad-tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/linx-8-tablet-16-gb-black-10100241-pdt.html?gclid=Cj0KEQiA9eamBRDqvIz_qPbVteABEiQAnIBTENtYfGv7CYLKzfQv34HVZsgM0Vr1_7VLfhHlhnIn4d0aAkm08P8HAQ&srcid=198&cmpid=ppc~gg~~~Exact&mctag=gg_goog_7904&s_kwcid=AL!3391!3!56990425219!!!g!95284499300!&ef_id=VNoXOAAAAO0zNIQ-:20150210143536:s
  6. My brother has a hauppage hdpvr gaming edition that he is looking to sell I think. He used to use it with a PS3 and it was really cool. Made some awesome videos. PM me if you want me to pass on a number or anything. Taa
  7. I wouldn't dare hard sell, it isn't in my nature to do so. haha. I appreciate the pointers! I hope you have a nice weekend.
  8. Thanks for your reply, I was hoping more to look towards home users, out of hours and weekend repairs. Obviously working from an office through the week limits my abilities to fulfill a lot of the day time, larger corporate requests which a networking event may generate. If my worries are unfounded and you think I still may be able to source some opportunities from that then please do send some details as I would be very interested to attend a meeting. Many thanks.
  9. Hi all, I am beginning to offer the above as a secondary service to my usual job, IT Engineer. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how best to advertise my services without coming across as a opportunist or scammer (think: Microsoft phone calls, or online ads that people immediately close.) Having many years experience working for other companies, enterprise and commercial I have gained understanding of how they work, but starting on your own can be daunting. I am just hoping for some pointers. I know word of mouth is a big thing, but can be hard when just getting started. Kind regards, Steve
  10. Hi all, Firstly, I have a big gaming rig upstairs in an office that I use if I want grunt, the main thing I am looking for out of this is the ability to use steam in home streaming, and browse the web in comfort on my sofa, maybe a little programming, and the obvious ability to travel with it. What are the pros and cons of Microsoft Surface pro 2 in these circumstances, and something like the Lenovo Yoga 11s? Does anybody have any experience with these machines? Does anybody have any suggestions that are available now/in the near future which may prove to be better choices than either of these machines? Thanks in advance for any advice and/or experiences you have to share. Steve
  11. from what I have heard it is pretty true to the original. Although I haven't played it, only people at my work, but still, they are pretty tough critics...
  12. haha the z button was the centre of the screen, it was not easy to play. add gr0w11 on steam and we will have some emulator sessions buddy!
  13. the same 4 people seem to be involved. can we kind of establish what knowledge we have each and maybe help each other out? rather than any overlap in threads maybe? my self, my background is server 2003 up to present and unix environment included. security focused with programming as a side focus. Networking and SIP come as second nature. Im aware your a game dev firm, but let me know if any of my expertise might be of use, its free at the end of the day...
  14. The south park game was class too!
  15. Hush hush, it cemented its place in the hall of fame for me when I played it on my phone and I still managed to enjoy it without a Z button. Haha.
