Parking clampdown in sheffield
mrplodge replied to louise170419's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
If you park legally you dont get a ticket seems quite simple to me. If you get caught risking going into a shop for five minutes you must just accept it but I personally would pay the fifteen minute meter charge rather than 30 quid -
I still dont understand exactly what these protesters actually want. I saw a banner saying no G8. Do they want it disbanded. I here today £60 billion wiped off debts. I presume this isn't enough. It is easy for people to say wipe off debts if it isn't money they are owed themselves. Also if for example this country is being paid 2 billion this year and it is wiped out, this money has to come from somewhere else. Yes you guessed it my taxes, I may be happy with this I may not but it certainly isn't up to these protesters to decide for me and yes here comes the stereotyping how many of these actually pay taxes (except those who reply to this). Why should we give money to governments that are corrupt dictatorships, surely this is the issue. The only way would be for us, usa or other to take over (like Iraq) oh Joy the protesters would be over the moon. There is terrible poverty but unfortunately nothing can really be done in the long term until these regimes go.

My family still live on Burngreave road and I agree there are some bad parts of it. The main road is a good area to live. I was going to buy a house there a few years ago but decided against it what a wally £30,000 to £96000 in less than 5 years

I usually try to get the cheapest petrol I can. I am always annoyed with myself if I have to go to the more expensive ones i.e if I nearly run out (I still only put a fiver in). The prices are very high and this has a direct effect on all consumer goods in this country. We could however all make an effort to go to the cheapest garage and at least that way we may get a bit of a reduction. It always amazes me why more expensive petrol stations get custom even if they are directly opposite a cheaper one. It may be that people think they get better petrol from certain companies eg additives that clean your engine etc. I think this is utter twaddle and just a marketing tool to keep the price up.

I think we were right to go into Iraq. For all those who don't, the deed is done and Saddam is gone you will just have to live with it. Both main parties have agreed they would have gone to war with or without WMD. The Prime Minister made a decision rightly or wrongly but what do these anti war people hope to achieve by their constant moaning. I presume they want to give saddam his Job back and pull troops out and everyone in Iraq will live happily ever after. I have no problem in recommending the lib dems for the anti war mob as well as holidays to iraq after the troops have gone.

Bus shelters & Telephone boxes - smashing the glass
mrplodge replied to regblind's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
You dont need money to enjoy yourself. 'We have nothing to do' is the crap that do gooders come up with. There is no excuse I was brought up in a poor area (pitsmoor) I never smashed a shelter. Zero tolerance is the order of the day. Police/courts are soft. -
West street your best bet eg Takapuna and Tequila. Also 80s bar and many more. Crystal and ruby lounge are also very close and have good reviews. Many bars to choose from around here.

Anyone had a similar problem in the Darnall area?
mrplodge replied to UnkleBob's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I have not experienced anything like this myself and I have nothing against any particular race. The law is the law and it should be enforced no matter what race, the police however pussyfoot around ethnic minorities and let them get away with flouting the law. This really annoys me. An example is spital hill pelican crossing zig zag lines what a joke if someone is'nt parked on them it will be a first -
Burngreave is far from being a no go area. There are problems in the area and yes if you flash your brand new £300 phone at 2am you may have a problem. The people who knock these areas have probably only driven through at high speed.
