  1. Ok, will do, I think you might be a little more impressed with this one, as its not as OLD as the last one!!
  2. hmmmm, i guess pressing "*****************" might work!!
  3. Tried all F1 to F12, ESC, DEL, INS and none of them work
  4. Nope, still doesnt work, even with the hard drive connected and my XP disc in the drive, it still wont boot or access the Bios, I have emailed Medion Support and been told it could be upto 3 working days before I get a reply. :( still no joy in accessing Bios, but thanks for the info.
  5. I cant get into Bios on a laptop, dont know why. This was gifted to me on the understanding that I removed the H/D before accepting it! Which I did. I bought a new H/D so i could install the O/S from disc. After having to buy a new power adapter for it, and charging it up, I now cant access the Bios. I have tried all the usual suspects, F2, F6, F8. DEL and the like and even searched Google for any others, but to no joy. Its a lovely looking laptop, dual core, etc, and would love to have it up and running but I cant Hve tried popping the O/S disc in to see if it will read it and install, but nothing happens. So I need to access Bios to see what the Boot Options are. I dont want to end up binning it, cos that would be a waste. Its, as far as I know, Phoenix Bios, and its a Medion WIM2200. Have tried it with and without the H/D but I dont think it really matters does it?? Anyone else have any ideas or solutions to this problem?
  6. WOO HOOOOO!!!  Now sorted thanks to the posts on my thread, Thanks everyone, the front audio ports are now fully operational!! There's no wonder I LUV SF!!!
  7. Right, okay been in bios, and there is nothing in there that mentions AC97. The only thing it does say is "On-Board Audio- ENABLED" and "Legacy FP Audio- ENABLED. The case has all seperate pins like as mentioned in Post #1, and nothing on the mobo to indicate where they go (unlike System Panel) This info came from searching for the MoBo manual and it came up with this on at least 4 different sites, yet I still dont know where the case pins attach to on the MoBo itself. Front Panel Audio Connector: FROM ONLINE-MANUAL:- 1 Port E [Port 1] Left Channel 2 Ground 3 Port E [Port 1] Right Channel 4 Presence# (dongle present) 5 Port F [Port 2] Right Channel 6 Port E [Port 1] Sense return (jack detection) 7 Port E [Port 1] and Port F [Port 2] Sense send (jack detection) 8 Key 9 Port F [Port 2] Left Channel 10 Port F [Port 2] Sense return (jack detection) What Connections I have from case: MIC IN (ORANGE) MIC IN (GREEN) GND (BLACK) GND (BLACK) L. IN (BLUE) L. OUT (RED) R. IN (PURPLE) R. OUT (YELLOW) Still got no ideas. Anyone have any further advice?
  8. Iwould if it came with any software, but it didn't!
  9. tbh, i dont know, it was given to us as it was knackered; turned out to be the hard drive, just installed XP on the new h/d, installed sp3 and all updates etc, no yellow exclamation marks anywhere in device manager, so I dont know what it is thats wrong
  10. Been there, done that, just re-istalled O/S on Friday, everything ok except the damn wi-fi which still wont connect!! (connects on ethernet tho, and the desktop connects using both ethernet and wireless usb dongle) so it must be the wi-fi connection somewhere.
  11. uninstalled it, still having same problem. The wireless connection finds the Sky connection, but keeps saying it may be out of range when I try to connect to it, never had problems with any other laptop connecting to it, the wireless dongle wont connect to it either on the laptop. Wanting to sell the laptop, but not if its got an iffy wifi connection, I'd like it to be running perfect in every way before I sell it, just for my own piece of mind.
  12. Yes, the phones connected, has been for years, no problems there, Desktop connected via Ethernet, no problems there either, just the Laptop is extremely temperamental about connecting to the router
  13. Have Wi-Fi on the laptop, (yes, its turned on!) try to connect wirelessly to my Sky Router, the network wizard thingy finds it, and asks to connect to it, ok, so I click on "connect", and it says the network may not be in range, click refresh networks and try again, so I click on "refresh networks" and the laptop then cant find the router, so I click "refresh" again and it finds it again, so i try to connect but get the same message "not in range" yet i'm sat sat right opposite the router about 3ft away. Am I missing something here is my wi-fi connection not configured properly?
  14. Why? I need to know which wire goes where on the mobo from the case!
  15. hmmm so basically the front audio ports aint gonna work?
  16. Doubt if anyone will be up at this early hour to help me but here goes: Got an old pc case and put a mobo in, the case has front usb and audio ports. (usb -no problemo) but its the audio thats confusing me, and causing me to rip out my hair at this early hour!! I have this:- Front Panel Audio Connector: 1 Port E [Port 1] Left Channel 2 Ground 3 Port E [Port 1] Right Channel 4 Presence# (dongle present) 5 Port F [Port 2] Right Channel 6 Port E [Port 1] Sense return (jack detection) 7 Port E [Port 1] and Port F [Port 2] Sense send (jack detection) 8 Key 9 Port F [Port 2] Left Channel 10 Port F [Port 2] Sense return (jack detection) What Connections I have: MIC IN (ORANGE) MIC IN (GREEN) GND (BLACK) GND (BLACK) L. IN (BLUE) L. OUT (RED) R. IN (PURPLE) R. OUT (YELLOW) Now which is which????? Searched Google, and have done so for the last 2 hours, and I cant find anything of much help, so PLEASE HELP ME!! :help: before the men in white coats come to take me away (ha-ha, come to take me away, hee-hee) see its started already!!
