  4. there used to be a path from the top of Spring Ln. to the bottom of Arbourthorne Rd, that used to be called an eightfoot by the locals when i was a kid.

  11. I was the van driver for Shaws ironmongers when they had the shop on South St, in the 60's before they moved to Duchess Rd....the brother of Vernon Outram was called Derek....he was something to do with Ecclesfield Beagles.

My wife & i went in the Robin Hood last August, we had not been since the new landlord had taken it over, we ordered two beef & stilton baguettes......the sliced beef was like shoe leather and the stilton was just 2 pieces of cold cheese that had been cut off a larger piece & stuck in the bread. We had expected the stilton to be melted, like it is in proper establishments but no, it was very poor....needless to say we haven't been in since and we won't be going in again.....terrible quality.

  19. The thread title should be changed to......God help Sheffield !...and clear out those deadbeats in charge of the council......

I heard this morning (from an employee recently 'tupe'd from Streetforce to Amey), that since they took over the contract for highway maintainance in Sheffield, they have made a loss of £4.5 million......and now they are imposing shift systems (without enhanced payments) and pay-cuts on the workforce......they only took the contract over in August 2012, it does not bode well for the future....i foresee strikes looming.
