  1. From workers onsite. Opens in May. All metal superstructure now complete. Fun times ahead.
  2. It was an Emirates A380 which can carry over 500 passengers at 7000 feet. If you ever get the chance to fly in one it is the only way to travel.
  3. Now the road has all been resurfaced and marked out people still don't understand the rules relating to the double white line system on the bend. Parking opposite a double white line system, even if one side is broken, is against the law and can carry a fine and points on your licence. People still park there and on the sunny days they park on both sides of the road narrowing the road resulting in passing cars having to break the law to pass. This is dangerous. If the council put double yellows down they wouldn't park but they don't need to due to the double white lines. It is only a matter of time before there will be an accident. Please do not park there but find somewhere else.
  4. The original ones came down the Parkway then travelled over to the out of city carriageway then off down towards the markets and left on Parkway Avenue with no problems.
  5. The Arts Tower car park should be open and free at the weekend. Short walk under the underpass.
  6. With all the Supertram roadworks at Hillsborough has any one followed the diversion taking you down Far Lane and across Dykes Hall Road. Looks like new street signs have been buried in the footpath. Dykes Hall Road is spelt correctly on one but the other says DKYES HALL ROAD . Spelling not a strong point with the council then:hihi:
  7. Just returned from a fantastic Sunday lunch. The food and service is 5 stars. A lovely warm welcome before being seated at our table. There were six in our party, one of whom has a coeliac diet. The choice for them was fantastic and they could do special versions of some of the courses on the Sunday menu and also select off the main menu. Staff were very well informed about the dishes and nothing was too much trouble. With a selection of breads came small Yorkshire puddings with crispy onions and of course Hendersons relish. Choice of 4 starters and 4 mains and 4 puddings. All amazing presentation and taste. 2 courses £20 and worth every penny. Drinks are the average price for a quality restaurant but not too expensive. Cannot recommend this place enough. It is a hidden gem that you want to keep to yourself but this would be a waste as everyone should try it. David and his staff deserve to succeed. They are looking at the market for theatre goers in the near future. They have special events so check out their website. http://inoxdine.co.uk/ Entrance is via the Main Students Union entrance and car parking is free in the Arts Tower at the weekend. Cannot wait to go again.
  8. The link below shows how to malke sure the bottle is empty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn16oM4WlDI
  9. Just a warning to people in Sheffield who purchase these from Asda (Balloontime make) and other suppliers for their parties. Sheffield Council will not accept these for recycling at their centres. Tried to dispose of two on Sunday at Longley Avenue West and given a telephone number to ring as they do not accept them. They put you in touch with Fletchers Recycling who charge £10 per bottle to dispose of each bottle. Bit much when you pay £20 for the whoile package. After a bit of ringing round Rotherham do take them at their Car Hill, Greaseborough site. Don't forget to empty them as per the instructions before taking them to the site. Even places like AA Bramalls don't take them.
  10. If you look here you may be able to find out. Not updated yet thought. http://twitter.com/#!/SYP_AirOps
  11. They are in the main school hall at Tapton school, Crosspool.
  12. If you travel around Sheffield city centre you will see both marked and plain police vehicles parked near main junctions. This is all to do with the Lib Dem conference and are all fitted with ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition equipment). The black van is one of those manned by police officers. I hope this clears this matter up
  13. I understand from my daughter that someone was stabbed. It will no doubt be in the news eventually. Hope whowever it is is alright.
  14. Danny finally traced alive and well. Plenty of old times to remember. Time is really too short.
  15. I seem to recall they once filmed a Guinness advert at the Blake. I believe it was back in the late 70's. The funny thing was I don't think they served draught Guinness in the pub at that time.
