You don't get out of it that easy Tops. Explain to me why this 'saga' is not the clubs fault ? He is a SWFC employee - who doesn't play meaningful football. Who's fault is it ? The clubs ? Hirsts ? Or a combination of the two ? His 'supposed' talent, can only be confirmed when he plays competitive / meaningful football on a fairly regular basis, and being a striker, he needs to score regular too. None of the above have been achieved yet.

Explain why its been handled poorly by the club ? Are you being serious ? The kid is supposed to have talent, right. Just remind me of how many first team appearances he has made, and how many first team goals he has scored. As the thread says - The George Hirst saga. Who gave this kid his initial contract ? His 'terms and conditions ? Why has it got to a stage where he is not experiencing 'meaningful' football ?

Sheffield Wednesday v Bolton Wanderers 10/03/18

Sorry, I meant to say at Hillsborough. -
His Dad is only after a few pies at half time - that's not too unreasonable I don't think. By the time this lad gets playing, he will be old enough to qualify for 'walking football'. Seems like a ridiculous situation to me, handled poorly by the club and his representatives.

I would imagine that the Sunderland and Hull fans were not giving lectures on - how to succeed in 'The Championship' though like you lot. -

If Wednesday lose this, Bolton will go above you. Unthinkable really that all the three teams from the pub league of last year will be above you. Sooner or later, the penny will drop surely with this current set of players that a win is needed to stop this mini slide towards the bottom 3. I'm certain you wont go down, but lose this and there will be a certain amount of panic amongst the faithful. Was a crazy appointment in my opinion setting Jos on. 1-1 -
Sheffield Wednesday v Ipswich Town 06/03/18

Don't think Wednesday are in danger of going down. Even I'm not getting excited about the possibility. This game does carry some importance though. Wednesday need to bounce back (no pun intended) after that Bristol result. Probably be the lowest attendance of the season. Maybe another 0-0, in front of a disgruntled crowd. Come back Carlos, all is forgiven. -
Best team ive seen all season. Be great to come away with anything. Thinking 3-1 to be honest.

It is a hard league. We were constantly reminded of it - remember We seem to have adapted to it quite well - thanks for the heads-up ! -

Two good seasons and thought it right to get rid of your manager - who incidentally, seems to be doing a very good job with Swansea (that must hurt ?) It was you lot telling us how hard the Championship is - forgetting to heed the warnings yourselves. Dodgy times ahead I reckon. Ipswich on Tuesday will be interesting. -

Maybe all these warnings about how tough this league is, should have been directed at your own club. I watched the build up to Bristols penalty - suicidal ! Giving Jos the job was a gamble, and it looks to be backfiring. Lots of work to be done for you lot, on and off the pitch. -

Certainly not the best game to have on mainstream TV. Send a glass eye to sleep this. -

I bow down to your wealth of knowledge regarding injury rehabilitation Tops. Here was me thinking it was up to SWFC how and where he rehabilitates, seen as he is their employee. How times change when you have a player(s) who dictate such matters. This bearing in mind is the same player who has refused to play for SWFC on at least two occasions. My bet is, he wont be with you next season. -
Reckon there maybe a few changes. Hope Brooks is on the bench at least. Thinking 1-1 to be honest.

Surprised the club let him go away for so long. Being the clubs 'best player' and biggest asset - I would have thought the club would have wanted to keep a close eye on his rehabilitation :suspect: -
Wilder certainly spat the dummy out after the match in his radio Sheffield interview. Bit of an over reaction I think. We've won twice as many matches as Wednesday and he's still not happy ! Relegation avoided months ago - still not happy ! Poor performance yes - but overall its been a good season, if we make the play-offs or not.
-
Too right you're not a selling club - there has nobody worth buying in recent years, that's why :hihi:. Every club is a selling club if the price is right. Who was the last major outgoing in recent years at Wednesday ?

Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa 24/0218
OPEN BORDERS replied to top4718's topic in Sheffield Football
Don't think this will be a 0-0 win somehow. Villa looked very good at the Lane. Wednesday with two decent home results / performances recently. 2-3. 1-3 ish Bet Villa sold out ages ago for this fixture too. They are the loudest fans ive heard this season. Good allocation. Think they will eventually finish 2nd to Wolves. -

Its The Guardian for heavens sake. Fluffy bunny la la land. Expecting a baby indeed. -
1, United 'finishing' mid-table ? Theres 15 games left 2,The pressure started 24/09/17 and gradually worsened. Board felt the pressure, so did he - he's gone on to better things, you lot, going nowhere fast. 3, 2012 budget ? Is that really an answer ? This is 2018, you lot have spent millions recently - with almost nothing in return from any of them. Rhodes, Reach, Hooper, Fletcher - all trip of the tongue quite quickly.
