  1. Sparkly poppies are still a sign of remembrance and respect. You can also get metal pin poppy badges which last longer. The whole point is respect and remembrance for world wars, afghanistan, etc. Our brave lads are still out there doing their best to keep the world a decent place for everyone. If people don't get it then I guess there is no hope for decency and respect anywhere. The money given helps when the government doesn't.
  2. I didn't realise that mong referred to down's syndrome. When I was young they were called mongols but I made no connection until it was pointed out. Everybody is getting so offended and worked up over one person's use of an obscure word. More people are aware of the word now and it will probably get used more. What a mess!!!! I don't think he is any more non-pc than the majority of people I come across. People talk as if they believe in all this pc stuff but really they think it but are afraid to say it. I think Down's Syndrome people are really sweet and gentle and I would hate anyone to abuse them but it is all getting out of hand. If we allow the media to control what we talk about then we need help ourselves. All we need to do is ignore what he said and the usage of the word will die away.
  3. I use one. I love it. Im on payg on t-mobile. £10 per month for unlimited texts and £20 for 6 months blackberry services. That is quite cheap. It is unlocked and I haven't seen a better deal. iphones are expensive per month. I love the fact that I have touchscreen and a keyboard.
  4. I installed BBC iPlayer but cannot get it to play. I have been in touch with mobile apps but they never reply. The only active link on it is add to favourites I can do that but it does not play anything. Most blackberry reviews for this app are good.
  5. I have lived next door to staffordshire bull terriers for years and they are lovely but put them in the hands of the uneducated in the ways of dogs and you have a recipe for danger. All dogs can be dangerous if provoked but the owner needs to be fully aware of how to be a leader to the dog or the dog will take charge.
  6. Hello. The only reason you feel ill after having the jab is because you were already incubating a virus. The flu incubates for a period of time before you feel the effects so the jab would not make you have the flu as it is a dead vacine.
  7. As someone who has to give out the parking vouchers please note that you can only park in the bays outside if you are in a&e not on a ward and not for an outpatients appointment. We get alot of abuse from families and it is not our fault. It is the council who issue the fines. If your child's problem is an emergency then be grateful that we try to keep the bays open for your use so you can get in quickly.
  8. hello there we go back monday 5th september. Can't wait lolx
  9. I agree with the rest of the comments. Its a no brainer really. We live in a democracy. Everyone has a right to be heard.
  10. The only people getting bird flu are the ones that live with the birds in their homes. They are constantly breathing in dust and mites and the like. If you take notice of what the scientists say instead of the media then you would understand that bird flu is not an airborne virus yet and not passed from human to human. Dont worry yet it is a long way off being dangerous for us.
  11. I think Blair should stay for the present and then a few months before the next general election step down for a new leader to be in for a honeymoon period before the big test. To leave the Labour Party for the Conservatives is so repugnant an idea I wonder why the woman joined the Labour Party all. By the way don't forget that through Conservative policies of choice and contracting out services in councils and hospitals it allowed cheap contracts and such severe costcutting methods to come in that our hospitals became dirtier as a result. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? MRSA !!!!!!!!! By the way my husband has just had a triple heart bypass and the Northern General was brilliant. Staff wonderful. Wards clean. Toilets and bathrooms spotless. No infection. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Labour policies.
  12. I thought the new Doctor Who was brilliant. It is no good expecting it to follow the old format. New audiences wont like it. It was pacy, modern and that is what is needed. The conspiracy theory nut may not be dead. We have not seen a body. Give it time. We have good actors and a good script. It was nice to sit down on Saturday night and it felt like a good old Saturday night used to be. I have watched all the Whos from the beginning with Hartnell and I liked the new in a different way. We must not be too precious. Times change. Just enjoy.
  13. AOL emailed everyone saying they were upgrading and my area is due in March/April. No extra charge. Brilliant. Go to the appropriate Keyword on AOL which I think is Upgrades.
  14. Dogs bark because as a pack member they have responsibilities to the leader which should be the humans in the house. Barking inappropriately can be cured by behaviour training. Buy them a copy of the "Dog Listener". It is a brilliant book and shows how dogs see their pack or family. Mark the passage they should read. It cant be good for them either listening to the barking. Hope this helps.
  15. Best TV so far? I didn't know it had started yet.
