  1. It actually does sound very interesting. Close to town and a 3 bedroom new build for 130k, that's great value and has to be interesting! It sounds like Sheffield has been succesful with its regeneration plans here which has got to be good news for everyone
  2. I have been going to the freeweight gym in Hillsborough (I think it is called the Transform gym) and this has what I need as it has heavy free weights, barbells, squat racks etc. However I am thinking about moving into the city centre to one of those City Living apartment blocks. Is there a free weight gym with heavy weights in the City centre? If not which one is the closest to the city centre?
  3. Thanks very much for the info Vidster and the welcome!
  4. Just seen a new build in 3 bed semi in Norfolk Park advertised for £130k. I understand that these are part of a regeneration project. 1) Is this a high crime area? 2) How long would it take to walk from there to the Moor? 3) I would be interested in any general opinions from local residents about Norfolk Park as a place to live 4) Is the regeneration project succesful? I would guess that a lot of newcomers from outside the area are coming in. Are they getting on Ok with the established locals or are there tensions?
  5. Well it sounds like Sharrow has more crime problems than was apparent from the first posts. If people are getting mugged by teenage gangs that is obviously going to depress prices and that explains why it is undervalued. However there are a great many positive factors about Sharrow including it sounds like a lot of positive community stuff going on. So I definitely am still considering Sharrow.
  6. Muay thai sounds excellent. Love the sound of those knee and elbow techniques. Does anyone know of a muay thai gym near hillsborough? (Bear with me because I have just moved to Sheffield and do not know where the Wicker or Hyde Park is in relation to Hillsborough)
  7. I wish I could buy the whole of Sharrow! But seriously, after reading what you say PT, Sharrow really is undervalued I think. The buyer for my flat in London has fallen through so sadly I will still be in renting in Hillsborough for a while. But Sharrow is definitely top of my list.
  8. try asking the housing corporation which I think is the quango which gives the housing associations the money
  9. I also noticed in the new issue of the Sheffield events listing periodical that they have an article about huge new student accomodation called something like "the Forge" near Ecclesall Road. This alone probably is helping to flood the market. All it takes is a few more of these and these student landlords will be out of business. The Forge was pretty reasonable too being about £75 including the bills. Most private landlords would struggle to compete, and the students have the advantage of a ready made social life on their doorsteps. I suppose some students will always want to do their thing in a private rented house, but I suspect life is getting harder for student landlords. However I am just guessing. The previous post seems to reinforce what I was picking up though
  10. Is Aston a nice place to live? How is it for public transport links to the city centre? Is crime a problem?
  11. The accomodation wanted ads will tell me if that there are people looking. The accomodation offered ads will tell me that there are people letting out. But it is difficult to tell from them what the ratio is of letters to renters and whether there is a surplus.
  12. question is are there enough of these precious little darlings to create strong demand for the properties landlords want to rent out?
  13. I met a landlord who had trouble filling a shared 3 bedroom house in Hillsborough for £40 a week plus bills (share with one other). It was void for a few weeks. I was pretty amazed at this given the fantastically low price, but another guy was telling me that now the universities have built more student accomodation, there is a surplus and landlords are having trouble finding tenants. 1) Is there a surplus of student accomodation in Sheffield now? 2) Is there generally a surplus of rented accomodation in Sheffield? 3) What do any Sheffield property maven's (experts) think about future trends for the rented property sector here? Strong or weak?
  14. What is Manor Oaks Road like as a place to live?
