  1. Does anyone know anwhere in or around Sheffield that refurbishes/tests cast iron radiators? We've picked up a small second hand one but it needs some of the fittings changing and it appears to need a specialist tool as the fittings have a couple of internal lugs. Its probably worth having it pressure tested at the same time. I've had a google but nothing much has come up Thanks
  2. Cheers for the reply I managed to get some in the end but had to go to Travis Perkins in Kirkby in Ashfield as that was the only place that had any in stock
  3. Does anyone know anywhere that stocks Hydraulic Lime (not hydrated) I need some for some mortar work on our property which is old sandstone. I've tried all the usual builders merchant near me but no luck (Lavers, Wickes, MKM, Myers) cheers
  4. I got some from brinsworth glazing the Rotherham side of Jct34 when I built some windows for my garage he cut them to size for me, very friendly and cheap HTH 01709 914 435
  5. your going to need 100mm subbase. Hopkinsons waste do loose MOT type 1 for ~£15/tonne for 150mm base you'll need 4.8m3 of concrete and budget for about £70/£80/m3 for a ready mix company to provide the concrete. Then you'll be looking at labour on top of that, probably looking at 2 days man plus mini digger @£150/160day HTH
  6. That would be great. Sounds like just the sort of person im after. Is he just plastering? Or can he do drainage etc.? Either way ill give him a call
  7. Great thanks Did a quick Google and found some one called JM Conservation based in Chesterfield (surname Miles is that him?)
  8. Hi We require a builder with experience of working with listed/heritage properties We have an old house with very thick solid walls and there's some penetrating damp on some of the walls in a couple of the rooms being caused by high perimeter paths and a raised garden around the property and the clay like soil doesn't drain the water away so allows it to penetrate through the walls. So far we've only been able to find cowboys that want to drill and inject dampproofing which is completely pointless as it won't work on these type of walls and also it's not curing the cause of the problem. Any way if anyone has any recommendations of builders that are experienced in working on old properties then please could you let me know some details. We've got potentially quite a lot of bits that need doing ie internal plastering, external rendering, repointing but they need to be skilled in old school methods and materials ie lime mortar/render, lime plastering etc. Thanks
  9. I do M1 Jct30 to Leeds every day, i leave at 7am to get into Leeds for 8am the worst part is after 38 so shouldn't be too bad. I've no idea what its like once your off the M1 though. If you leave at 8am to get to Wakefield for 9am though it will be slowish all the way up to about Jct 36, clears for a bit then is bad again 39 onwards into Leeds, i do that on the days i drop my son off at nursery it takes me 1.30hr to get to Leeds HTH costs me ~£82 week in fuel (500miles)
  10. Hope yours turn up, The vet has said today its not chipped and they reckon it's about 18years old and has a thyroid problem so they're going to look after it for a week and then let us know. Hoping the poor old thing makes a recovery, but we wouldn't be able to look after it as our 2 cats were not impressed by him and I'd be fearful they'd attack him
  11. the other one is long haried and a mixture of white and other colours but i'm afraid i don't think she looks like either of those in your link i'm afraid. This other one has a long bushy tail
  12. No i'm afraid not She's pretty much all black except for white socks Another cat has now turned up in the garden and looks pretty ratty aswell but this one isn't very friendly and runs away if you approach. I wonder if they are a pair, as it now seems to be hanging round looking for something which seems to be a weird coincidence. The cat is at Chesterfield RSPCA at the moment being looked after
  13. I found a VERY undernourished cat this morning as i was going to my car on the way to work. It was clearly desperate for food/water We've given it some food & water which it has wolfed down and it's currently at the local vets being checked over and to see if its chipped The poor thing was just a bag of bones It's black and has a couple of white legs/paws. it was found in Eckington S21 cheers
  14. ah ok, just seen your update, yes drakehouse is just up the road, well bring them along at the weekend then Cheers
