  1. Hi, I hope this is ok to post in here I am part of a group of students at the Sheffield University who are involved in a mini project on Park Hill flats, we want to get a sense of how people of Sheffield feel about the flats. I therefore wondered if any of you would be happy to answer a few questions on your opinions on the flats and any experiences you have either from the past or the present. Our questions are below but anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Any information given will be anonymised if used in our project. If you do not wish your answers to be included then please don't comment. Thank you 1)How long have you lived in Sheffield? 2)Do you think Park Hill would be a good place to live? 3)Do you think that Park Hill creates a positive community? 4)Do you think it's a good idea to mix people from different backgrounds? 5)What do you think about the regeneration project? 6)If you could sum up Park Hill in one word what would it be?
  2. Hi, seen a black dog running across beighton rd woodhouse smooth coat wearing redish collar heading towards greengate lane/ balmoral I turned round to look for it but couldn't see it. Looked scared tail between legs.
  3. Hi Would anyone please be able to help, I need a map of graves park, one showing all of the land. I have done a google search but the ones that come up don't seem to show the exact out line of the land included. Many thanks
  4. hi, I have posted a while back regarding my lovely boy and his behaviour when we are gone, I thought things had got better but apparently not. I am looking for recommendations for a good 1-2-1 trainer who deals with separation anxiety and also jumping up and nipping on return. Bark busters came up forts when I googled, but I would like to hear from people with personal experience. Thanks in advance x
  5. Irrespective of the amount of traffic the 'lazy' parents create when taking their children to school (of which I am one apparently!) that road has always been a nightmare and the area which your speaking of seems a strange place to build, however I do wonder if opinions would differ if it was a waitrose or m&s.
  6. Hi, Just wanted to ask general opinion from dog lovers before I make a decision on what to do. The road I live on has numerous dogs almost one every other house, Mine included , unfortunately I live in the middle of the street and every time I go out for a walk it feels like I am running a gauntlet. Most people on the street appear to be responsible dog owners, however there are two separate houses where the dogs are a total nightmare (both with multiple dogs) you can not walk past without the dogs going mental, jumping up and trying to get over the not very high fence. Other dogs on the road perhaps have a woof as you walk past but that's is, these are different. The thing is one house in particular has several dogs and I don't think they are ever walked just left to behave in this way all hours of the day irrespective of who walks past, the garden is full of pooh, which is often flicked out onto the pavement. So do I put a complaint into the council (they are private houses) and hope that they can get through to them? they are not approachable people and I don't want to end up in the middle of a fowl mouthed rant in the middle of the street.
  7. We have been out and about all over today, there was loads of them up at Hillsborough and also loads at crystal peaks (well outside crystal peaks) plus many that came to their final resting place on my windscreen yuck!
  8. Yes but Shankle you have all those qualifications and are still prepared to take a Job that you are over qualified for. No doubt you worked your backside off to get the experience you have, therefore in my opinion why shouldn't you get help from the state when you have put in, there is a huge difference between people in situations same as yourself and those that choose to live off the state because they have never been taught any work ethic and are of the opinion that everyone owes them something.
  9. I feel really sorry for some single parents, some of them are in that position through no fault or choice of their own. I was brought up by my mum she didn't claim a penny and worked bloody hard, went to uni and worked at the same time, we didn't go without always had food on the table and a roof over our heads. We started off in a council house but she worked to provide a better environment for us. The problem is SOME people choose to be in the situation and are quite happy living off the social or screwing the system, the difference between now and then, well quite simply if you couldn't afford it you went without even a phone line was a bonus. The sad thing is history will keep repeating itself in these areas and statistics will increase.
  10. Granted there is, but I'm not in that far worse place because I choose not to be, yes there are people who end up in that situation through no choice of their own, but they then tend to have determination and take the support offered to make steps to improve their situation, there are others who sadly do not. The comparison between someone living on the streets or living in poverty and people openly breaking the law and making others suffer through their actions, surely can not be made! years ago I spent time volunteering in a homeless shelter, and I can say they were some of the nicest people I had met with morals and respect for others and not of the mentality of 'I'll do what I like where I like when I like and there's sod all anyone can do about it'
  11. People are so full of crap! Excuses are all very well, yes they are people and yes some may have feelings, however they do not consider other people's feelings when they behave how they do. Money can be thrown at people, houses provided, positive parenting courses, free child care, various courses offered at sure start and childrens centres, youth centres, but people CHOOSE not to access these services! I am all for providing services for drug addicts and people to get them off the streets, however the people I refer to in my op, are those with no respect who think its ok to sit in their cars smoking pot next to a childrens playground, or deal outside local schools! So instead of your do good get nowhere waffle suggest something that would work! We all live in this society we all play a part in it and wearing rose tinted glasses is getting us nowhere. Why the hell shouldn't I want my children to grow up in a decent area?
  12. What is happening and who cares enough to do anything about it? I can't believe the number of people you see walking around smoking pot or driving smoking it, crime is on the increase, Gang wars, stabbings shootings all becoming too commonplace. I have 3 young children growing up in this society, where no Suburb is safe from being infiltrated by the dirty little sewer rats, and please save the poverty crap because that's what it is crap! People in this country have lived through tougher times than this and kept morals, respect and dignity. So what has changed? is it perhaps the lack of true authority figures? Is it bad parenting?.
  13. There are some truly self righteous people on here who obviously have bags of cash always do every thing right and never question or complain about anything! Well I shall also go to the bad mother corner because I too would have expected £10 to be enough for 1 child to take part in the activity get a cold drink and be able to get home!
  14. Total rip off, even with a card it's not that big a saving, especially if there's more than one child. I remember going to silver blades all the time as a child and to sheaf valley baths, something which can't have been that expensive because my parents didn't have that much spare cash, and yes I know prices go up, running cost and such, however all the push is to get children out there and get active but yet it's so expensive to partake in such activities in a regular basis if at all. I was there a couple of weeks ago at a weekend collecting my daughter, a chap went in with his little girl, only 45 min left of the session and they still wanted to charge him the full price! We therefore go for the cheap option and head out to parks and museums armed with a picnic.
