  1. Hi Does anyone know of any bonfires / fireworks displays in or close to s20 this year? Thanks, Lisa.
  2. Ha ha sounds good, where is it and what time? After a decade I may surprise myself or I may be rubbish!
  3. Hi, Recently moved to Sothall and am interested in getting back into badminton, at Westfield Sports Centre. Not played for about 10 years. Want to partner up with me? I'm 30 year old female. Thanks, Lisa.
  4. Hi, I'm thinking about buying a house in Sothall. I currently live in Walkley. I wondered what do people think about the area? There are a couple of things I am concerned about: 1, public transport into town. Is it going to cost me a lot? I will be living by myself so am a bit worried about ending up isolated. 2, gyms/swimming pools. What are the best ones locally? I am on fitness unlimited at the moment but I'm guessing it wont work at Westfield for swimming. 3, commuting. I work near meadowhall at the moment but if I got a new job it would probably be in Leeds. I used to commute to leeds from the city centre. Does anyone commute from south Sheffield? What's the journey like? Thank you for your help :-)
  5. I would LOVE to do this!!! Please count me in!
  6. Hi I think its a cracked pipe rather than a blockage. I own the property so am happy to sort but just need to know who can fix for me. Thanks!
  7. Hi, We have a sewerage problem at our house. The pipe that takes dirty water from the toilet down the outside of our house and underground has a crack in it, I think at around ground level (which is covered in cracked concrete, and some of the water has come through the crack). Firstly, does anyone know whether this is a plumber issue, or a council issue, or a yorkshire water issue? Secondly, if its a plumber issue is anyone equipped to sort this out? Thanks, Lisa.
  8. Hi, We need new doors but our frames are not standard sizes. Can anyone recommend someone that could saw / trim the doors we buy for us? Most places I have spoken to will only trim down doors bought from them, and we want to get them from somewhere that doesn't offer trimming! Thanks, Lisa.
  9. There are some massive houses off Granville Road, e.g. on Norfolk Road. There is one I walk past every day that faces Granville Road (just opposite the junction with Norfolk Park Road) - it is all boarded up. I wondered whether anyone knew what it was and why? If the council own it they should sell it because I bet someone with the capital could make a packet on it (sadly I do not have capital). Its a shame for it to sit empty and boarded up I think. Does anyone know what it it used to be? Lisa.
  10. Thanks Mike - might give the food a miss and go to a restaurant beforehand instead! Doesn't sound like it would prove a memorable 21st birthday meal!
  11. Hello - we are thinking of going greyhound racing. I have noticed that you can eat at the venue - has anyone eaten there before and is it any good? (what is it comparable to?). It seems quite pricey so was hoping it might be a nice meal, as it is for my brother's 21st and don't want to make a mistake and end up with something you could get in wetherspoons but x5 the price! Thanks very much!! Lisa.
  12. Thank you so much for your really fast responses! I'm definitely going to give these ideas a go. At the moment we unplumbed the machine and brought it inside to defrost it. Do many people have their washing machines in garages?!
  13. Hi, We are having problems with our washing machine, which is in our garage. It is our first winter in our house and the machine has been fine all year. Now that the weather is cold the pipes are freezing. We had an older machine that stopped working, and doing some research I think it was because the pump froze and burst. We now have a new machine and I think we are going to have the same/related problem again. We don't have space in the kitchen for the machine. My boyfriend has suggested we build an insulated cabinet for it in the garage. Have any of the plumbers out there come across this before? Does anyone know whether there is a solution, bar bring it inside? I would love it if a local plumber to Sheffield could come and sort us out if they know how to resolve the problem. Lisa,
  14. Hi, I am thinking in about a month or so of starting to do some voluntary work on weekends. I would like to do something that helps people, and so that I can make some new friends (I have just returned to the city). I would especially be interested in doing something related to teaching, but this isn't essential. I have a business background which could be useful. I would be open minded to different types of volunteering, provided they achieve something. I would need to do something only on weekends as I work full time. Has anyone done any volunteering that they can recommend? Does any run any projects and need people? Does anyone have any views about volunteering? Would be interested in hearing from you. Lisa.
  15. We have just fitted a lovely double ended bath into our bathroom (taps in the middle). Problem is though finding a suitable shower screen because the shower is in the middle and most shower screens get fitted to one end. We don't want our bath to end up cocooned in shower screen because the bathroom is quite small and it will end up taking over the space. However, we need something that will stop the floor getting wet throughout 3/4 of the length. We want a screen opposed to a curtain. Has anyone got a bath like this and has managed to solve this problem? We are on a budget too which doesnt help matters!
