  1. you call me a plonker, yet you don't know the difference between religion and ethnicity? They could hold the meeting in a church or a mosque and i'd happily attend it.
  2. Could you not find a more inclusive place to hold a meeting? I'm not a Pakistani so won't be attending any meeting at an advice centre for Pakistanis. Pity there isn't a Page Hall advice centre for the entire community.
  3. hand will probably take a couple of months, maybe longer. Should know more thursday when i see hand doc. Can't start on bike till hand's usable. ---------- Post added 18-04-2013 at 15:34 ---------- Just back from hospital, Confirmed that I have fractured multiple metacarpal bones at the joint, and the trapezoid joint is snapped in half. Having surgery on Monday to pin the trapezoid and wire the metacarpals, followed by at least six weeks in plaster.
  4. They're like buses mate, wait ages for one then two come at once. on the bright side, it'll be more than a couple of months before i come off again. :-S
  5. Not a problem mate, she won't let me near anything with a motor... Tell her to avoid Owler Lane in cold Weather. There's water leaking from the (closed) Crown Hand Car Wash beside Owler Lane Service Station. It runs down the side of the road and is often spread by traffic right across the Highway and along the entirety of that stretch of road. In Feb I pulled out of the service station, turning right towards Meadowhall and the back wheel just went from under me as the damp surface had turned to ice. It was a dry and bright day and all other roads were bone dry. Fortunately damage was minimal, and I just had a bruised and swollen ankle. Just be aware of it and be careful.
  6. Yeah, not pretty is she. Gentlemen, we CAN rebuild her. We have the technology. We have the capability to build ... you know the rest Thank you so much for all your help, Bikertec. You are a true Gent. Nice meeting you and I'll see you Wednesday, I'll be keeping your number and will thoroughly recommend you to anyone who needs a man wi' a van. Fracture clinic - X-rayed my paw again and decided it's not broken, but there are bone chips floating around in there, and 'something going on' (whatever that means) with one of my joints. Did a CT scan and a return appointment Thursday with a hand/wrist surgeon. Till then I have a splint on. Not washed a plate or a cup since Saturday! I could get used to this... Once again, Thanks mate...
  7. Thanks bikertec, I'll give you a ring. You are very kind, much appreciated. Thank you so much to others who've offered help and/or good wishes. You can't beat Sheffield folk...
  8. Hi, thanks, The bike is moveable, though it's still in gear. It's off the road and reasonably secure but I'm skint till midweek so will need it done then.
  9. Hi, Had a motorcycle accident on Bellhouse road, approx 7pm yesterday due to the poor road surface there. Bike is quite badly damaged and I have broken metacarpals in my right hand. Need someone who can recover bike from Bellhouse Road and deliver to Robey Street area probably midweek. Can't afford to pay a fortune... Also, would like anyone who witnessed accident to please get in touch. Thanks.
  10. It's defrauding because the law says it is. A person on JSA can work up to 16 hours a week and must sign on every fortnight. When he signs on he is declaring that he has done no work. If he has done unpaid work the JSA authorities will decide whether the unpaid work he's done 'should' have attracted remuneration. If it should, his benefit will be cut. If he's done paid work, he must declare it. The money he has earned apart from £5 will be deducted from his benefit. The same is true if he opens a market stall and starts trading. You are encouraging someone on benefit to commit benefit fraud so you can get your garden done on the cheap. If you want your garden doing, get a gardener and pay the going rate rather than exploiting the desperation of someone on benefits to get it done cheaply.
  11. Hi We recently lost two of our much loved pets; Our black cat, Sam, who was 15 years of age died on the 14th February, and then on the 18th our Staffy Cross dog, Bandit, who was 16 years of age, blind and mainly deaf suffered kidney failure and had to be put to sleep. We now have one remaining cat, Murun, who is also 15 years of age. He's used to having companions (a couple of years ago we had four cats and the dog) and so we'd like to get a kitten - specifically a male long haired tabby. One of our cats (titch) was a long haired tabby. We got him from a cat rescue, he was so tiny and full of cold when we adopted him, and no-one expected him to survive, but when he died (of heart failure)a couple of years ago he was 19 years of age. We'd really like another one similar to titch - he was such a gorgeous cat. If anyone knows where there is such a kitten available I'd really appreciate it if you'd pm me the details. cheers.
  12. what's antisocial about parking where there's plenty of room? Don't ya think sanctimoniousness is anti social?
  13. 'cycle' as in motor-cycle?... The warden did say that most of the 'big' car parks have free mc parking but I've not checked that out. Whenever I parked there I left the cycle bays clear for cycles. Liked parking there cos it's convenient and busy enough to inspire confidence that the bikes relatively safe and it didn't cause an obstruction. Most of the designate bike parking spots are in poorly attended back streets. Theres another parking spot on bank st opposite Cavendish court jobcentre there used to be one near the old NUM building near the cathedral but I've not been there for ages so I'm not sure if it's still there
  14. Sorry to hear about the accident - and glad to hear you're relatively unhurt. Good thinking... don't ever pillion again - pass yer test and go up front in future...
  15. Was about to park opposite the Peace Gardens this afternoon and there was a traffic warden ticketing one of those little chinese bikes - apparently the warden's 'top boss' has told them to ticket any motorcycles parked there (the pavement/cycle racks near Maplins) in future. There's a free solo motorcycle parking space round the corner opposite Atkinson's rear exit.
