  1. https://www.outokumpu.com/locations/sheffieldsmacc I reckon this is the culprit.
  2. I hear this in Handsworth, sometimes it is so loud it wakes me up and prevents me from sleeping. I have a theory that it is the buzzing from steel manufacturing when the electrodes pulse into the metal to melt it. The noise seems to emanate from the direction of the Outokumpu site near Tinsley, it is driving me crazy.
  3. Yes I remember Openshaw, I was also caned a few times by Kirk, She has always been Bold, still is. She is on Facebook if you want to get in touch, I am sure she will be glad to hear from you. look for Susan Axelby.
  4. Yes she is, I also went to Tinsley Infants but I am 18 months older than her.
  5. Hi I have gas / gasless MIG welder. Had it a few years and have tried a few times to get a good weld. I used to use oxy acetylene and was fine with that. Is the anyone who is experienced who might test the machine I have, I want to know if it is me (either competence or lack of knowledge / practice) or the machine not working properly. Getting very frustrated with it... Cheers if you can help, I can come to you if it helps.....John
  6. Yes Kay am sure they did, when my Dad married my Mum (Ernest and Doris) they lived at 124 Dundas Rd, where I was born and my dad was disabled had a three wheeled electric car.
  7. HI Kay 1, my Dad was born in tinsley Huts, I wonder did you evercome across Thomas and Mary Ellen Wood or their Kids Ernest, Billy and a few others? Cheers John Wood
  8. It's about time someone shopped the S13 motorbike thieves (Scum). My son in law had his bike stolen fron the back of his house when he was on honeymoon (second bike he had stolen). It was found burnt out behind Grange School on the path. Sadly it was S.O.R.N. and not insured at the time ( cash spent on wedding stuff). I could understand someone taking a bike to joy ride but then to burn it out is Neandethal.
  9. There are a few different kinds of SU carb, generally they have the float chamber either on the side or within the carb body. These carbs don't generally lend themselves to the kind of problem you talk about. However if there is an intermittent fault it is likely to be the float chamber needle sticking closed so not allowing the petrol pump to fill the chamber as it thinks its full !!! Sometimes they get bits accumulating from years of petrol and these can cause either flooding or fuel not getting through. Sometimes the needles get a wear grove on them and either of these can cause an intermittent problem. It might be that the vibration of the engine when it starts opens the temporaily sticking valve.
  10. Hi I have an MGB GT 1967 vintage, had it since may 1979, phew i didn't think I was that old!!!. Never seem to use it these days, but can't seem to bring myself to let it go... Think it does about 20 miles a year these days.
  11. Hi did you get a response? The steering rack comes with Gaitors already fitted. What Trunnions, do you mean the top ones on the King Pins , those on the anti roll bar ? It should be a fairly simple job, but you will have to get the tracking done afterwards at some tyre place ior other (about £25 + or -). Contact me if you still need help. John
  12. I went to Brook School 1965 to 1970 and remember Mr George, he ran the fist year football team and i have a photo of the team with him in the background. He was an ok guy. Sadly the school didn't teach me much about football else I would not have become a United-ite would I now.
  13. Hi out there I have just received a picture of my Grandfather Thomas Wood who was in 1923 on the committee of the "Pegwell Bay Rehabillitation Home" sponsored by the Working Mens & Institure Union clubs. I believe he was a member of Tinsley WMC at the time and may also have been on their Committee. Does anyone know where the records of Tinsley WMC went to or is there anyone out there who knows a lot about it. He dies in 1958 so it is some time ago and people of his generation are sparse on the ground. If anyone can give any information that would be great. Cheers John
  14. I seem to recall the name John Tongue but as for the others, the memory fails.
