  1. I'm interested to know if anyone in Sheffield is interested in, or collects Observer books? My Grandad is a keen collector and has a vast collection, at his latest count he is only missing 4 or 5 from the entire catalogue of first editions and reprints. Over the past 5 years we've travelled up and down the country going to book fairs and spent even more time hunting in small bookshops for those elusive few that are outstanding. I find it amazing how much of a following the little books have. Lee
  2. i did my achilles tendon and i found that if i rested it, it seized up and took ages to loosen again! i would certainly reccomend light exercise, as much as you can do on it without overloading it and an exercise which involves standing on a tennis ball (on the afflicted ankle) and trying to remain balanced on it - this forces you into using the ankle in all directions and although initially very painful it builds up strength very quick. this exercise can also be done if you don't have an injury and just want to strengthen.
  3. As much as I hate to quote such a crap film but I watched Mr and Mrs Smith last night and Angelina Jolie came out with a line I consider to be quite true... "Happy endings are just stories that haven't finished yet"
  4. you can get on any bus in the 80s i.e. 80, 82, 87, etc... from outside Virgin Megastore. This bus also stops outside Streetwise Sports at the top of the Moor if this helps. Lee
  5. The 'bison' was taken down when the company rebranded from AvestaPolarit to Outokumpu, was kept in SL2 (a warehouse on site) for quite a while and then eventually taken to Magna where it is now! There were talks of the council buying it to put in the city somewhere, and also talks with Meadowhall to put it somewhere in/on there. Avesta is a town in Sweden that is known for its bison-rearing, hence the bison on the company logo and the sculpture. The sculpture is made from stainless steel (what Avesta produced), is 100% scale and was fabricated by some sculptor in Sweden. If you're familiar with the ska band 'Bison' they took their name from the famous sculpture by the M1 and they also have pictures of themselves sitting on the bison.
  6. Richard that is spot on mate, just what I needed. Do you know anything about relational databases and if so which ones above use this technique? I'm not building a database myself, but working on a project that will require real time data input and data access by multiple users with a database. The server/client thing is very useful indeed. Could you tell me what clustering is also? Cheers mate, Lee
  7. Greetings, I need some advice on 2 things mainly: 1. Different sorts of Databases (SQL, Oracle, etc...) and what their applications are 2. Data transfer over wireless communication systems i.e. different systems available, transfer rates, etc... I can't really discuss the context of what I'm doing over the forum so if someone could assist me by emails or PMs or semaphore i'd be most grateful Cheers everyone, Lee
  8. hi, I'm currently planning a rugby tour to Cardiff and need some advice about club and coach hiring. If anybody can help me i'd be most grateful. Alternatively, does anyone know of a Cardiff Forum I could ask on? Thanks, Lee
  9. ah thanks for the update, unfortunately i'm out of the country for a few months though so i can't go up there for a bit.
  10. Hi, I'm currently arranging a rugby tour in March 2007 and am scoping out potential companies for producing our kits. Does anyone know of any such companies in the area and if so could you pass on their details to me? Thank you kindly, Lee
  11. "There's a time and a place" If so who gets to decide what is the right time and place?
  12. Yes photo ID is accepted by Ryanair on internal flights. If the price increase is for covering costs of producing a new passport, how is the replacement passport changing? you can't just suddenly pay 26% more and still get the same thing as it was before!
