  1. Hi! I'm working on a graphic novel and was looking for an artist to collaborate with. I might be able to offer something in the way of payment, and obviously if it gets published there will be some returns. It might also be good for a portfolio, or for a student project? I'm looking for a traditional comic book style for the book, so if there's anyone out there who's interested, send me a message or reply to this thread and I'll let you know the details! Cheers!
  2. Definitely. But it's that kind of world we live in now. If we aren't doing something for a reason, it's frowned upon and seen as lazy and frivilous, which is probably why all the bohemians got chased away! Personally I love writing, but I never get enough time for it. In between work and my other responsibilities, it seems more like a luxury than a calming pleasure!
  3. I know exactly what you mean! A lot of my writing friends get so stressed about their writing. It always has to be leading somewhere, or they have to be doing it for some reason and I don't think they enjoy it as much because of that pressure! It's another thing that's become very career-orientated now because it's easier than ever to get noticed. (Despite the fact that it's more likely you'll get lost in the crowd of writers clambering all over each other to get published!) Ahh well, never mind! I don't think ambition is necessarily a bad thing, just tends to stress people out!
  4. hey Karis! I'd be happy to contribute to your website. Sounds like it could be fun! I'm happy to do film, tv, books or game reviews. Let me know how to go about it and I'll definitely get involved!
  5. I'm surprised at the lack of love for Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz! But I have to agree with Withnail and I being probably the best film ever made, not just the best British film!
  6. I've dabbled in writing comics, but found it difficult to find artists to collaborate with. I haven't heard of any support groups either, but it's possible there might be some around, or maybe have a go at creating one yourself?
  7. Gotta agree with Karis...'Salem's Lot is an amazing vampire film! It's actually one of the only films I've ever found scary. Of course, I'm talking about the Tobe Hooper directed original, not the Rob Lowe starring remake. That was a more accurate adaptation of the book, but it was just a bit poo! I still haven't seen Let The Right One In, but I enjoyed the book massively, so if it's nearly as good as that then I need to get my skates on!
  8. Thanks ed, that looks like a fairly awesome site! It's a shame about the community. It's so much easier to make films with a big group of people than to go it on your own, but I guess that's the problem with a creative industry! Never mind!
  9. Hey everyone! I'm new to the Sheffield area and have recently finished a degree in film making where I specialised in writing and directing. I have a few short scripts ready for production, as well as some crew and willing actors, and I'm hoping to meet with local filmmakers to get some films made and to help develop a bit of a film making community in Sheffield. This probably won't be paid work for quite a while, but if any money is made from the films then I'm happy to share it out, but I'm more looking for passionate, skilled individuals who are having the same troubles I am breaking into the film industry who love what they do! Thanks!
  10. Damn! Joined just after the deadline! Bah! If you ever need any help on any other productions, feel free to ask! I've got a lot of experience writing, directing and filming dramas and documentaries and would be happy to help.
  11. Hello people! I'm new to the whole Sheffield forum thing, but I'd definitely like to help! Sounds like a good idea and a fantastic opportunity to get some stuff made! I'm more into writing comedy films, but radio's always intrigued me, so count me in if you need me!
