  1. The taxi driver apparently had no grievance with the crazy guy and was himself shaking like a leaf and was very upset. After the incident the mad driver then tore off through the lights, shouting and screaming so maybe he was in a rush to get somewhere VERY urgently. My sister said she honestly thought she was going to be attacked.
  2. No, not at all. Why would it be a wind up? I'm just trying to find out some further information. I can promise you my sister who has just phoned me didn't find it very amusing. She was absolutely terrified. Seriously, why would you think that someone would make this up?
  3. Taxi driver locked all the doors, and tried to get out of the way, but the guy in the car was out of his head with rage, and threw something heavy at my sister in the car. The taxi driver has gone to the police to report the incident, but my sister was on her way to the airport so unable to stay. She has agreed to be a witness though, even though she no longer lives in England. She thinks Sheffield is a very dangerous place to live now!
  4. Did anyone witness the taxi driver incident on Queen's Road this morning at about 10.30? My sister was in a taxi that was rammed and attacked by a single male driver, who then threw something heavy at the car. She is extremely shaken up and upset. She has no idea why this happened.
  5. Spark 22 I don't believe in UFOs. I am mystified as to what this was. Thought someone else might have seen this too.
  6. Did anyone see a pair of really bright flaming lights that travelled over Sheffield tonight at about 5 past nine? The two lights were about 15 second apart, were completely silent and were definitely not jet exhausts. Couldn't have been hot air balloons, travelling far too fast for that. Travelling from south east to north west. They took about 40 seconds from being visible on the horizon from our back door to going all the way over the house and into cloud near the far horizon. Really fast.
  7. Photos of my chickens in the snow, at Bradway: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=47384&id=100000507047992&l=4ec6f32652
  8. Everything is true: Include making meringues cos the cat loves them. Being happy to be a member of the cat's staff! Dreading the wrath of the cat when you come home late or have the temerity to go on holiday.... Names for my cat, Jade, include Jaydee, Jaydelicious, Jaydeebabes......... embarrasing!
  9. I made this lime and coconut cheesecake with rum cream for a dinner party this weekend. It was gorgeous. Creamy and beautifully rich. 8 ginger nut biscuits, crushed 50g (13⁄4oz) unsalted butter, melted 300g (10oz) mascarpone cheese 100g (31⁄2oz) ricotta cheese 1tbsp plain flour 100g (31⁄2oz) golden caster sugar 40g (11⁄2oz) desiccated coconut grated zest and juice of 3 limes, plus strands of lime zest, to decorate 2 eggs 1 vanilla pod, scraped For the rum cream: 200ml (7floz) double cream 1tbsp icing sugar 4tbsp dark rum MethodPreheat the oven to 180°C (350°F/Gas 4). Mix the biscuits into the melted butter. Place four 10cm (4in) chef’s rings on a baking sheet and press in the biscuit mix. Put the cheeses, flour, sugar, coconut, lime juice and zest, eggs, and the seeds of the vanilla pod into a bowl and whisk until blended. Pour onto the biscuit base and bake for 20 minutes, until golden. It should be slightly wobbly in the centre when ready. Leave to cool in the oven. To make the rum cream, put the cream, icing sugar, and rum into a bowl and whisk to form soft peaks. Put the cooled cheesecakes onto serving plates and top with quenelles of rum cream and strands of lime.
  10. Hi I own a house halfway down Rydal Road opposite Grassmere. Did there used to be shops on that road? I've owned the house for 15 years. Never knew that!
  11. I have to disagree with you about the service - I ordered a bottle of champagne as a treat for myself and my two friends. The waitress had no idea of how to open it and ended up spraying about a third of the bottle all over herself. She had absolutely no clue how to serve it, and offered no refund. The food is nothing special either. Nice decor though!
  12. I had it done about 6 years ago in Leeds too. It has been fantastic - I was really short-sighted. I used to wear contacts and glasses but just got fed up of continually getting conjunctivitis. Best money I've ever spent. I cannot tell you what a difference it made to my life. It's also really quick - all done and dusted in about 5 minutes. Good advice to read all the literature though. Can you have it done in Sheffield now?
  13. I went to Hurlfield comp in 1970-75. Remember all those names. The school had just allowed girls in, and many of the teachers made it quite clear they weren't happy about that. Mr Godbehere (what a fantastic name!) taught maths. He threw a wooden board rubber at me which hit me on the side of the head - for looking out of the window!! Physics teacher - can't remember his name) called me "dead wood"!! I've got a PhD now!!!!! I used to fancy Gary Illingworth - captain of the cricket team I think. He was lovely. I wonder what happened to him?
