  6. Micky Moody & Ali Maas Band M&J Blues Thursday 14th September 2017 The Greystones Greystones Road, Sheffield, S11 7BS Doors 7.30pm - Show 8.00pm The original guitarist with Eighties soft rock chart-toppers Whitesnake, now touring with his new band is regarded as one of Britain’s finest slide guitarists, and his concerts mix top quality blues with some Whitesnake surprises. The Ali Maas and Micky Moody collaboration began in 2014 as a songwriting venture which has since evolved into the album Black And Chrome. It is more than a coincidence that one of Ali’s early influences as a singer was David Coverdale at the time when Micky was guitarist with the original Whitesnake. The results of this union, however, are not based on any form of classic rock, but more from a shared admiration of blues, soul, Americana, swampy rhythms and captivating melodies. Aside from his well-documented time with Whitesnake, Micky was also a member of Juicy Lucy, Snafu, Frankie Miller’s Full House, Roger Chapman and the Shortlist, The Moody Marsden Band, The Company of Snakes, M3 and Snakecharmer. He has also been a very active session musician, author and creator of library music. Ali has always specialized in writing original material with thought provoking lyrics and inventive melodies. After an initial period of studio work, and live session singing, she progressed onto the indie rock scene as lead singer and writer for the critically acclaimed band McQueen. During this time, Ali also developed her skills as an artist and currently runs her own one-woman enterprise, making mixed media artwork and leather work for the interior design industry. Her first love is, and always has been, music. Support is from fantastic Sheffield duo M&J Blues who are a headline show in their own right!! 8. Grace Petrie The Greystones, Sheffield Saturday 27th May 2017 We are delighted to welcome back the fantastically talented Grace Petrie for a headline show at The Greystones! She is part of The Greystones family and has played some storming and memorable gigs as headliner, when playing with her hero Dick Gaughan, and those sublime sold-out shows with Coven in 2016 & 2017. This will be a fantastic night of humour, beautiful love songs and some political, kick-ass anthems. All only days before the general election... Come down and fill your tanks! * * * Grace Petrie is a songwriter, activist and performer from Leicester, UK. She first exploded on to the national protest scene in 2010 with the emotive anthem Farewell to Welfare, which captured perfectly the spirit of the new wave of dissent in austerity Britain. Since then she has quietly become one of the most prolific and respected songwriters working in the UK today. Her latest release, Love Is My Rebellion (2013) charts the journey beyond protest singer, through mid-term political cynicism and personal change to emerge through shades of folk, Americana and country as a more mature songwriting voice. The result is a collection of songs that provide a soundtrack to the modern struggle, with faith and with love, that will resonate with listeners everywhere. Grace’s young career boasts three studio albums, a dedicated fan base and national tours supporting Emmy the Great, Billy Bragg and comedians Robin Ince and Josie Long, as well as a string of festival appearances including regular visits to Latitude and Glastonbury. She is a frequent guest on BBC Radio 4’s the Now Show and has appeared on Channel 4’s Random Acts. 9. The Black Lillies & The Fargo Railroad Co. The Greystones Thursday 16th February 2017 Doors: 7.30 - Show 8.00pm We are delighted to bring this fantastic bill to The Greystones and to welcome outstanding US six-piece band The Black Lillies to the city and their Sheffield debut. This is simply going to be a stunning show and we know that The Black Lillies will be huge and playing much bigger venues very soon! It’s nothing short of remarkable how far The Black Lillies have come in their six years, both in terms of miles and in terms of personal and musical growth. Through the ups and the downs, they’ve established themselves as one of the hardest-working and most dynamic bands touring today. With a re-imagined six-piece live lineup that includes new additions Sam Quinn (the everybodyfields), Mike Seal (Jeff Sipe Trio, Larkin Poe) and Jonathan Keeney (Robinella), it won’t be hard to please Black Lillies fans, and with a new album this great, they’re sure to bring a whole lot of new ones into the fold, too. Guests are local Sheffield heroes The Fargo Railroad Co. These guys are just getting better and better and boast a country-wide fan-base. 10. Stacie Collins Roaming Son The Greystones Sheffield Saturday 15th October 2016 Wow, this will be a bit special and long overdue. We are pleased to finally get Stacie Collins to The Greystones for a Saturday night of incendiary rock 'n roll 'n harp! Sporting a slam-bang rock ‘n’ roll band and a hard-core honky-tonk wail, Stacie Collins pushes the boundaries of rock, blues and country. A singer-songwriter and a bad-ass harmonica player in the style of Chicago Blues greats Little Walter and James Cotton, Collins has garnered a reputation for her high energy shows, diverse songwriting and unlike most chick-singers, they are not all about love and heartbreak. Based in Nashville, TN, Stacie is a road warrior having performed countless shows in the USA and Europe over the past few years and has even spawned a Japanese “Stacie Collins” tribute band. In addition to touring, Collins, along with her writing partner, husband, band mate Al Collins (Jason & The Scorchers) have written, recorded and released five records on her own label. Had her records been released twenty or thirty years ago, they would have sounded as natural on ’70s FM radio alongside ZZ Top and The Rolling Stones as they do next to contemporary rockers like the Drive-By Truckers or Blackberry Smoke. Absolutely not to be missed! “Just as there are people who come into your life like a hurricane destroying everything in their path, there are artists who will produce such a feeling when you see them live that nothing is ever the same. That is precisely what happened to me the first time I saw Stacie Collins” RedHardnHeavy “A Stacie Collins show is that all too rare animal these days – a concert that leaves you on an adrenalin and a musical high feeling that, as long as there is Rock ’n’ Roll all is right with this crazy world” 3SongsBonn “No frills US roots rock done to a Southern T” Q Magazine “Country with a side order of soulful fire and brimstone” Maverick Magazine “Stacie Collins is a bad-ass chick and she can play the hell out of a harmonica” The Rock and Roll Geek Show “Guaranteed to get any party started… It’s sassy, sexy & rocks like a bitch.” Classic Rock Magazine Tickets are £12 adv Venue: daily from 12-6pm Online: http://www.cliffordevents.co.uk & http://www.wegottickets.com/event/357134
  11. Rights of Passage by Clare Summerskill and presented by Artemis Theatre The Merlin Theatre, Sheffield Monday 30th May 2016 An inspirational new play about the struggles and triumphs of people from LGBT communities who have fled to the UK from persecution. What happens when they get to the country that they hope will offer refuge? Who is welcome, who is deported, and who is locked up? You leave your own country in fear of your life. You come here to be free. But now you are friendless, penniless, jobless, and scared to present yourself to the Home Office, in case they don't believe you - in case they send you back. Based on interviews with LGBT asylum seekers, Rights of Passage shares the experiences of those who come to the UK from anti-LGBT countries where their lives are under threat. Real-life stories brought to the stage unveil the issues of those who come to the UK and often live under the radar, terrified of being forcefully returned to their country of origin. Dramatically moving, Rights of Passage is written by the brilliant Clare Summerskill (Once Upon a Lifetime and Gateway to Heaven). Artemis Theatre was founded by Clare and is committed to telling the stories of hidden and marginalised communities. Friends of Edward Carpenter are proud to bring this original production from Clare Summerskill and Artemis Theatre to Sheffield and to the newly renovated Merlin Theatre. Rights of Passage is presented in Sheffield by the Friends of Edward Carpenter community group, dedicated to presenting community events in the spirit and solidarity with Carpenter, an early social reformer and gay activist. For more information see http://www.friendsofedwardcarpenter.co.uk “Great play! The most powerful and accurate portrayal of LGBT asylum seeker stories I've ever watched.” - UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group Tickets are £10 / £8 adv (£12 on the door) To buy tickets... http://www.cliffordevents.co.uk
  12. Webb Wilder The Bearcats (acoustic) The Greystones Greystones Road, S11 7BS Wednesday 20th April 2016 -- The Webb Wilder Credo -- "Work hard, rock hard, eat hard, sleep hard, grow big, wear glasses if you need 'em." Before there were Kings of Leon, Keys of Black or Whites of Jack in Nashville, there was Webb Wilder... Rock ’n’ roll, from Nashville. Formed from Mississippi mud, tinged with British mod. Bruised by the blues. Baptized by Buck and Chuck. Psychiatric psycho-rootsy. Sizzling, glistening, uneasy listening. As it has been for three decades, it is now and ever shall be. Webb Wilder. It's been a long time coming... but here it is, solo and acoustic, here at The Greystones! We are so excited to welcome Webb Wilder to Sheffield for an extremely rare and much anticipated show with this outstanding Nashville legend. This will simply be magnificent!! "If Webb Wilder and his band are passing within 300 miles of your town, don't miss them!" - Vintage Guitar Magazine "There are no explosions, no video enhancements to a Webb Wilder show. Just lots and lots of authentic, gut level rock music. He's the last of the full grown men, and you don't question his genius." - Birmingham News "These days the term 'roots rocker' is almost meaningless, but Wilder's blend of a rocker's heart with a hillbilly's soul is probably the best aural definition of it yet." - Time Out Chicago "The band is 'Georgia Satellites, part Dave Edmunds, part Elvis Costello and altogether wonderful.'" - Billboard Magazine Tickets are £10 adv Online - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/346225 Venue - daily until 6pm ---------- Post added 20-04-2016 at 10:04 ---------- I am hearing fantastic things about the show in Newcastle last night. Sounds like Webb is on fire. If you're even thinking about it... Get yourself down tonight. Great beer, great company, storming music!

"The art of contemporary and traditional song by a singer and guitar player of rare quality and integrity; a totally unique experience, there's nobody remotely like him" - Brunswick Music Festival. "He has one of the finest and most sublime voices on the planet, capable of capturing the heart with the most tender of traditional ballads in one moment and stirring the fire of the spirit with his uncompromising commentary on social injustice in the next... an unforgettable artist, able to change the way that you think and feel through the power of music" - Appleseed Recordings. "A truly masterful performer" - Folk Roots Tickets are £12 adv and are available from http://www.cliffordevents.co.uk or from the venue daily until 6pm.

Following on from Jason & The Scorchers blistering sold-out show in July, legendary Nashville guitarist Warner E. Hodges (Jason & The Scorchers, The Bluefields and Dan Baird and Homemade Sin) returns to The Greystones with a new band featuring Mikael Fassberg (ex Bonafide) on guitar. Warner E Hodges is a real legend in every sense of the word. Get your tickets now before they're gone. This will be an amazing night of sweaty, face-bending, head-filling, ass-kicking rock 'n' roll. "Jason & The Scorchers are musical pioneers... generation after generation have fallen under this sing-songy definition of success in one way or another. But Jason and the Scorchers embodied all three prongs of the hypothesis. They were punk. They were country. They were rock… most of all, they were originals." - Americana Music Association "there is absolutely no question that Hodges plays dirty, loud guitar better than many of his better-known contemporaries. With his heart so obviously in loud rock and roll and with blazing performances under his wing... to see Warner E. Hodges on stage is to see him at his best." - Penny Black Music "...one of rock n roll’s top 5 most thrilling moments, the mean-spirited relentlessness of ‘White Lies’... this song, some 20 odd years later still has the ability to simultaneously make love to and bugger the listener senseless. With the ferocious guitar work of Warner E. Hodges battling for supremacy next to Jason’s howling vocal performances there are few finer examples in the annals of recorded music of how the electricity of personality makes for such thrilling sonic adventure." - Ginger Wildheart Tickets: £10 adv Available from the venue or online at: http://www.cliffordevents.co.uk See you there y'all!

  21. Drivin' N' Cryin' The Greystones Tuesday 21st April 2015 Doors 7.30pm - Show 8.00pm Drivin' N Cryin' will be rolling through the Steel City on their 30 year Anniversary Tour and are appearing live at The Greystones, one of only three UK dates. Atlanta, Georgia’s legendary southern rock band Drivin’ N Cryin' led by Kevin Kinney have weathered the ups and downs of the music business since the mid-’80s. Their mix of hard rock, southern-style boogie, a heap of punk attitude, topped off with Kinney’s love of lo-fi garage rock hasn’t changed either. They just play to their strengths - soaring anthems, snaky hooks and gorgeous guitars. Do not miss the opportunity to see this Atlanta-based rock icon. The show will feature Jason & the Scorchers and Dan Baird and Homemade Sin lead guitarist, the legendary Warner E Hodges! This is going to be one kick-ass night of rock n roll, Greystones style, that's hot and sweaty and loud! Support is from Sheffield heroes Fargo Railroad Co. Don't miss this! "Crunching hard rock is the drivin part, brittle countryish balladry the cryin, with the two linked by a heavy dose of Led Zepppelinphilia. If Paul Westerberg had grown up worshiping Angus Young instead of Alex Chilton, the Replacements might have sounded something like this Atlanta band." - Rolling Stone Magazine Tickets are £13.00 each (£15.00 on the door) http://www.wegottickets.com/event/309700 Venue - daily until 6pm
  22. Andy Irvine appearing live at The Greystones Greystones Road, Sheffield S11 7BS Friday 24th April 2015 Doors 7.30pm - Show 8.00pm ANDY IRVINE is one of the great Irish singers, his voice one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He has been hailed as "a tradition in himself". Musician, singer, songwriter, Andy has maintained his highly individual performing skills throughout his 45 year career. From Sweeney's Men in the mid 60s, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s and then from Patrick Street to Andy Irvine & Dónal Lunny's Mozaik, Andy has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians. As a soloist, Andy fills the role of the archetypal troubadour with a show and a travelling lifestyle that reflect his lifelong influence, Woody Guthrie. To quote the Irish Times, "Often copied, never equalled", his repertoire consists of Irish traditional songs, dexterous Balkan dances and a compelling cannon of his own self-penned songs. "Andy is one of the most creative and talented people it has ever been my privilege to work with. Great company, superb singer, genius of a musician, truly original songwriter and an inspiration to all of us - what more could anyone ask?" - Dick Gaughan "Andy Irvine is Ireland’s Woody Guthrie, with a philosopher’s ear and a prophet’s passionate voice. Grace Petrie live at Millennium Gallery Arundel Gate, Sheffield, S1 2PP Saturday 21st February 2015 Doors: 7.15pm, Show: 7.45pm Grace Petrie is a songwriter, activist and performer from Leicester, UK. 24. Warner E Hodges Please Do Not Feed the Guitarist appearing live at The Greystones Greystones Road, Sheffield S11 7BS Saturday 6th December 2014 Doors 4.00pm - Show 4.30pm Legendary guitarist for Jason & The Scorchers, The Bluefields and Dan Baird and Homemade Sin, Warner E. Hodges delivers a unique show, full of anecdotes, Q&A and rock n roll riffs! Expect surprises in this intimate setting! This show will feature an entirely different set of songs and music from the evening show and in an entirely different format and setting. This is a unique, one-off event, never to be repeated! Get your tickets quick before they are gone. Hodges battling for supremacy next to Jason’s howling vocal performances there are few finer examples in the annals of recorded music of how the electricity of personality makes for such thrilling sonic adventure." - Ginger Wildheart Tickets are available: Venue - until 6pm daily Online - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/290642
  25. Mick Ralphs Blues Band Warner E Hodges The Western Sizzlers appearing live at The Greystones Greystones Road, Sheffield S11 7BS Saturday 6th December 2014 Doors 7.30pm - Show 8.00pm Wow! With this triple bill, its hard to imagine a night crammed with any more high quality rock n roll than this! Expect an evening filled with guitar based blues-country-rock by masters of their craft. Mick Ralphs, the legendary British blues-rock guitarist with Mott The Hoople and Bad Company brings his fantastic Blues Band back to The Greystones following their mighty debut with their Christmas Party last year. Legendary Nashville guitarist Warner E. Hodges (Jason & The Scorchers, The Bluefields and Dan Baird and Homemade Sin) returns to The Greystones with a new trio featuring Mikael Fassberg (ex Bonafide) and Phil Martini (ex Quireboys). Last year Warner tore the place up with Sheffield's own Roaming Son as his house band. Everyone in the room was blown away by the sheer exuberance of Warner's performance. A real legend. The Western Sizzlers are a honkin’, stonkin’ and of course rockin’ country outfit from Atlanta, Georgia featuring Rick Richards on guitar (Georgia Satellites). We are looking forward to their debut here at The Greystones and I challenge you not to be singing along with 'One More Beer', their unique party anthem. Yee Haw! You'll be on your knees at the end of this fantastic night of QUALITY rock n roll in the intimate and sweaty Backroom at The Greystones. Forget your Christmas do with rubber turkey and pedestrian flashing light disco, right here is where Christmas really starts! "Mick Ralphs is one of Britain’s finest and probably most understated blues/rock guitarists whose career path spans almost 5 decades. He is without doubt a true legend and pioneer of British rock and blues and as he rolls on towards his seventies shows no sign of abating his enthusiasm or love of the guitar and blues music. Men like this are few and far between these days and you won’t always get an opportunity to experience them first hand, so my advice is take the opportunity while you can." - Rob Goodwin (Realtime Live) "there is absolutely no question that Hodges plays dirty, loud guitar better than many of his better-known contemporaries. With his heart so obviously in loud rock and roll and with blazing performances under his wing... to see Warner E. Hodges on stage is to see him at his best." - Penny Black Music "For Ol’ Times Sake’ (by The Western Sizzlers) is the perfect title for an album that glances back over its shoulder to the halcyon days of pre-corporate independent southern rock and alt. country. It’s that combination of bar room boogie and a batch of impressive songs that make this an album well worth checking out." - Pete Feenstra (Get Ready to Rock) Tickets are available from: Venue - daily until 6pm Online - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/282449
