  1. It's great Takes a bit of commitment to get started up - look at a couple of grand for training and some kit and the training is very weather dependent (as is the sport itself) A few local schools - Peak airsports, Derbyshire flying centre, Airways and Parapente paragliding school. Once you're qualified with a school you can join and fly with the Derbyshire Soaring Club (http://www.derbyshiresoaringclub.org.uk) who look after the sites in the Peak. Check out the website of the British Handgliding and Paragliding association too http://www.bhpa.co.uk The forecast for this Saturday looks promising, take a drive out to Mam Tor/Lords Seat and have a chat to one of us on the ground if you can. Sheffield is about the best city in the country for easy access to paragliding, you should give it a go if you're keen
  2. or take the ferry straight to Norway!? http://www.dfds.co.uk/DSW/EN/Travel/Transport/NSHB.htm
  3. this one was taken on the 20th, it was beautiful flying over the valley fog.. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/136/342438508_0f216f0869_b.jpg
  4. Try The Union in Nether Edge.. I can't remember if it has a dart board though? Nice beer and more of a local old fashioned pub..
  5. can recommend On The Spot tyres too. No longer will I get ripped off at Kwik Fit..
  6. Why do people bury pets in airtight plastic bags?? In my old childhood home there'll be loads of rabbit, dog and hamster and guinea pig bones. Not a bin bag with cat soup inside.. eurghh!
  7. Britain's not that bad really, just I've been Darfield today and it reminded me of all the bad things about the place. I still don't consider myself british though, anymore than being Welh/English/Yorkshire/European. Hopefully New Zealand in not too long, who knows..
  8. No, and want to emigrate and get out of this s-hole
  9. The TV licence isn't that much really, especially compared to the £400-dd quid you're paying every year for sky.. a lot of that money will go to the third-rate excused for channels included in your subscription that you never watch.
  10. This is a little email I've had with my friend about it. I'm a pretty PC bloke normally.. honest! I wrote: I agree with the veil thing too. It's wrong. and sexist, and confrontational. If it's not meant to attract attention, it's defeating the object. I always gawp at anyone wearing a full one. My friend wrote: I agree too and I think he said something that millions of people have been thinking for years. I don't like talking to people with sunglasses on and it's the same thing. It is confrontational (in the same way the Orangeman's costumes are in Northern Ireland -they just wear them to **** off the Catholics). Some people are saying Jack Straw's views are ignorant, but a lot of people (me included) would think that talking to someone with your face covered is ignorant and disrespectful. Also, they're suggesting that us blokes are perverts for looking at women's faces. And that if you're a Muslim woman with your face covered you're okay, but if you're a teenage lad in a hooded top you're bound to be a criminal.
  11. I've recently moved there, after living in Crookes, Hunters Bar and Nether Edge.. Generally ok really, but I haven't had a night out with the locals yet. The nicest parts seem to be up above the High Street going towards the train station and Hemingfield, I've got my name down for one of the new houses they're building there. Seems to be about halfway in nice-ness compared to the other towns/villages around there. Not as nice as Hemingfield, Elsecar but a step up from Hoyland, Wathump, Jump and Platts Common. No worse than most areas of Sheffield I'd say, and takes no longer to get in on the train to Shef than a bus from Stannington
  12. "A Nissan Micra was overtaking ... " "The Micra driver, a 21-year-old man ... " Surprise Surprise.. Another idiot overtaking when he couldn't and trying to kill someone. Shame he didn't get more than just a broken leg
  13. The swim inn has zero atmosphere.. it's like drinking in a chav grotto with no windows
  14. Yeah, that one.. Remember now seeing a screen saying press any button to continue, didn't notice anything about a fee though
