Happened to me. The plastic arm has an aluminium bush, which corrodes to the spindle. The plastic arm snaps off, leaving the bush well and truly stuck. That's why it's so hard to find a second hand one; they won't come off, without breaking. What's worse is, the spindle comes through the window glass, so too much force trying to free it, and your window breaks. Take the nut off, then use a junior hacksaw to cut across the aluminium bush. It's really soft, and cuts like butter. Then it just drops off. Fit your new arm...sorted. Main dealer part,bout 20 quid.

Coalite is expensive,but easy to light. Sunbrite is cheaper,but it's bitch to get going. Use Coalite to get your fire started,then keep it topped up with Sunbrite. I'll stick with gas,thanks.

There's a photo of an old tram coming under the railway bridge on Prince of Wales Rd. On the wall outside Davy United (as it was) someone had painted 'SACK THE TORIES NOT THE WORKERS' in big white letters. If you look carefully,you can still see it today. (the slogan,not the tram obviously)

Traffic "calming" measures that force people onto the wrong side of the road, into the path of oncoming traffic, which should technically have the right of way, but usually doesn't. This must have been the brainchild of a total pillock. It's a wonder no-one's been killed.
