Wow reading some of the threads we see many times on Sheff Forum. I am glad I have good neighbours. Not nosy, Never interfere or report people. Never make them known on the forums. They never moan Its great to have good neighbours.

The thread title says it all for me. Will there be student " Rioting....If there is then we should bring out the water canons and Cs Gas. All for peacefull demo's. But not when they riot.

Fine and not in too much trouble..MMM. Maybe this girl needs councelling if she ran away from home. She will do this again if she has problems.

Sad world, Dysfunctional kids and similar parents, Lack of discipline. O.K. Throw snowballs we all did this as kids. But never at cars or adults. I saw an old man being snowballed near the pub this is wrong. I was tempted to throw one back But then I could have been prosecuted for doing so. Glad to say the old guy was ok. We live in an uncaring society now. The dysfunctional and anti socials from years ago are giving birth to many others. They grow in number everyday and think what they do is normal behaviour. They are far from normal.

Most wars caused by women and religion. There are many reasons we dare not put on the thread or the P.C Brigade would riot. Sadly Political correction stops this question from being answered.

Lets face it all stores have security guards. Why not mention it to him. Were you the only one to see him. Was he waiting for his parents at check out for these few ??/mins. I see this many times near my tesco and shopping area. Kids play outside whilst parents are in the shop. Kids do not feel the cold as much as we do. I see them many times sat on the floor and rolling about in this snow and ice. I sometimes worry about the posters that post these posts. I am glad I do not live on the same road as some of them.... Yes facts seem to change as the post progresses

I guess we should teach people how to use search engines then they can save time by not asking silly questions as to where they can pick up mail and parcels. Even a quick phone call would answer that problem and many others

Mail order items that people want for xmas will get there eventually before xmas. I have been waiting for important mail now for days. Tough I can understand the situation, Mail posted local for local addresses is not so bad. But surely people can wait for the mail and parcels they have ordered for xmas. The time to panic is if they do not arrive in time. I guess we should cancel xmas this year and save people a lot of money and debt....

How can not having the bin emptied affect people so much. What do they suffer as a result of the bin not being emptied. This is just a case of moaning for the sake of it. This is not an health risk or a danger. Goes to show that there are those that have nothing better to do. Maybe it is right when they say people have had it far too good for far too long. They will moan at any chance they get because they do not have a life. people dying, Hunger, Homelessness, Serious accidents, Yet people moan because their bin has not been emptied. hard to believe.

I find it so amusing ( Not so ). People sit back and stress about what they can complain about. Most of those that complain do not even have a job themselves. Rubbish not collected. How can this be a problem it will be collected eventually. The people to blame are the Unions that will not allow workers ( Members ) to work in these conditions. Very rare these things happen yet people complain. It is said that this is the British way of life LOL. I guess the rest of the world laughs at us when they read some of the remarks on our web sites. People should get a life and start to think positive and not in a negative manner. There is a life beyond your garden gate.

Yes other countries do seem able to deal with these kind of weather conditions. Why ? Because they have the machinery and the experise to do so. If we were to have the same machinery it would have to be paid for. The fact is this machinery would be stood idle for years till we became vicitms of the same weather conditions. Do you want to pay thousands of pounds of your council tax to maintain and keep this machinery fit for use when it is stood idle.

This situation was extreme and very rare. But I recall times when things were bad. I cannot believe the number of people that are moaning. It could have been much worse than it is. Lets face it. When did anyone ever suffer this bad weather before. We in this country have it lucky. There are countries that get this much worse and prepare Not Panic or even moan. OK I guess next time we store more grit and also buy lots of machinery and ploughs so that they can go rusty in sheds. I dislike this council, But they do have to prioritise the services in this weather. Many are suffering and not moaning. I could not get out for 4 days. I needed supplies, I got no mail, I could not get to the hospital. But this is a fact of life. I am just glad it is nearly all over and life can get back to normal. I blame nobody. I cannot even blame God because I do not believe in him. I can see why people in this country are laughed at. What would happen if we had real problems to contend with.

The gritters have done a major and great job. They have managed the best they can under the conditions we have had to endure. The major roads have been kept under control here in Sheffield. Other area's have suffered worse and still are. Here in Sheffield we are sheltered by the Hills. We have not had it as bad as other area's. But I guess Sheffield are famous for moaners. Full marks to the gritters and all those that have had to work hard in this weather whilst we sat home warm

Dare not comment on this post I may get barred. But I will say many of the services we have are abused to the limit. 999 Service in Sheffield have some really good stories. Hospitals with minor injuries that just needed a plaster. Police called for such silly reasons and arguements. I am a council basher most of the time. But we do get value for the tax we pay. In this weather we hear from all the moaners and groaners that think life owes them a living.

Stupid morons panic buying again and listening to rumours. Mind you many do not know how to bake bread now even though there are kits ready to bake etc.

The postmen/women will catch up, They always do. They do a good job at xmas. Stop worrying they will catch up with the backlog. Many of the postal workers are expecting parcels also. This is unexpected extreme weather and they are doing their best to get the mail delivered. The weather will be getting better now so will the post. My thanks to any postperson that delivers mail over xmas.

People knock Shirecliffe, I live in a part of Shirecliffe where the neighbours are the best. Many elderly and disabled. But I can say with all honesty that I have never had a moan an arguement or even a difference of opinion with any of my neighbours. I would also like to thank one neighbour, Who after work visited all those close to him to see if they were all OK. He left his phone number with them in case of emergency and did the shopping for them. Not many like this guy is there? These are the one's that make our communities worth living in. Do your kids play outside in the snow or even when it is cold. There is nothing wrong with this. The school would be very cautious also. They would not want to be in danger of compensation hunters suing them. We played soccer in the freezing cold then straight into hot showers. Cross country running even in the snow. Today schools have gone soft because parents soon find something to moan about. Kids love play either in the cold or sun. Maybe you have forgotten what it is like to be a child.

You report him to the Town Hall licensing. Also the Police have a department that deals with this. This said, His license should have been on display in the front of the cab. Also the company he worked for. Was this an Hackney cab or private. Though the same laws apply . I ask because if this was an ordinary car he may not have been a real taxi driver. You should have refused to pay him and call the Police. But why did you not just get another taxi. If you did not have the seat belt fastened then he would have been motionless. In any case you should have got out of the taxi and not carried on with the journey. The closer we get to xmas the more we will see false taxi drivers on the road. There is a need to check before getting into a cab that the badge is displayed, That the relevant company and phone number and notices that are supposed to be displayed in the cab. That the taxi driver wears a badge that is in full view.

By The way. We are only hearing one side of the story here and bit by bit. Teachers should have the right to reply when they are being accused of serious neglect. Hence this should not be a forum discussion till all the facts are known from both sides

Here we go again, The Blame Game. There was a time when parents were there for their kids at any time of the day. Not wait till 9 pm to see mummy when they are supposed to be in bed. That is the problem with society today. The school is not to blame. The child is ten years old. Are you trying to tell me that this is a child that is kept indoors all day never goes out to play, Has no friends in the area. That she was alone at school. That she did not have the sense to tell the teacher mum will not be home. This is just lack of communication and no precautions taken by the parent in case of an emergency. This blame game gets worse. The teachers have far more to do than be baby sitters.

I agree V Rossi. I just hope that nobody agrees with this poster. To invade someone's home would be criminal at least. But it seems there are a minority within the student movement that would resort to crime. As I have said before. There are far too many students looking for a freebie time in Uni to avoid work. Degrees that will not benefit society where those that get them spend most of the time waiting on in Mc Donalds, Any Degree such as architecture, Doctors, Teachers ??, Surgeons Lawyers etc. etc. These are the one's that should get the help they need to succeed. What use are many of the degrees we see. Uni should be for those with the brains. Those that are not so lucky are the one's with the brawn. Not everyone can realize their ambitions and become famous or succeed in gaining a richly paid and sometimes well deserved job.

What a set of ignorant idiots some people are. Lets face it. This man is doing his best to control the Conservatives as part of the coalition. If he was not there I guess things would be a lot worse. At least the coalition can stop a lot of what the cons want to do that many of us have not even heard about. Most people on the forum do not understand politics and the reasons behind Nick Cleggs actions. If the cons had the majority at the elections then we would have really been in hot water. If those that want to invade Nick Cleggs home at xmas think this way, Then I can only hope whist they are doing this they themselves are victims of a home invasion.
