  1. I am trying to raise awareness around dronfield! People don't seem to realise that we have very little time to make our protest known here! Also a lot of people don't seem to know that the proposed site in only a few miles down the road and the whole of dronfield will be affected! I am going around schools, neighbours with letters to be sign and I will send them myself. Anyone willing to help with that and get those letters signed by their neighbours, friends, family please contact me! The final decision by the Planning Committee is only a few weeks away so we must act now! Thank you for your time
  2. Just wanted to say I was at the Matlock meeting on Friday and heard what Cyclamax had to say. I am now even more worried! The technology proposed by the newly established company is untested and unproven. There are no long term case studies on the health effects of these processes. They have not said anything to reassure me about the negative impact it will have on the surrounding communities and people health. I do not trust this company to be running such a hazardous process, where profit and money-making will come before public health and safety. It seemed to me that their focus was mainly on the commercial advantages. They did give the usual business speach about job creation! Which was quite annoying. They said the plant would create 41 jobs!! Who, I wonder, will be those people working there? I don't think local people will want to have anything to do with it. The fact that their being there would drive existing local businesses away and therefore bring job losses was not addressed. In my opinion, if the proposal goes through, it would be purely on the ground of commercial gain. Nothing I heard made me think it is the right way to go for waste disposal. The danger is far greater than what it would bring to the problem of our increasing waste. I urge people to get imformed to make their own mind up. http://www.againstincineration.org.uk has lots of experts reports and I urge people to join us to fight against it. The final decision from the Planning Committee is only a few weeks away now! We still have a bit of time to show our disapproval so any support is welcome!!
  3. Longcol I live in Dronfield I am not middle class and the gasification plant would be 5 minutes down the road from me. It is classed as Chesterfield but it is on Dronfield's doorstep!
  4. I found it a bit anoying that you keep refering to the middle class areas!! people are people at the end of the day! it is not a class thing!!! the harm will be done without discriminiation! what about jordanthorpe? if you want to cite poorer areas...we are all affected by what is going on! Do you have children? What kind of a place do you want to leave behind for them? I feel concerned about all of the sites proposed by cyclamax!
  5. Thank you RICH B. Thank god there are still people intelligent enough to understand the facts and to care enough to take a stand! I was at the meeting this afternoon and listened to the proposal by cyclamax! It scared the life out of me! Unless you actually hear the facts I don't think you can understand the impact on the local communities! Some of Sheffield areas will be affected by the harmeful emissions (norton, dore totley greenhill) and on the other side of Chesterfield staveley and Brimington! Cyclamax tried to sell the whole project as a greener way to deal with waste but frankly came across like business men, and as such their main concern is PROFIT! I don't think you can dismiss this as being a "chesterfield/dronfield" problem!! It is on your doorstep and it concerns us all. The argument of the protest is not about "where the incinerator is built" but "IT SHOULD not be built anywhere in the UK".
  6. The proposed hazardous waste Gasification plant/Incinerator on Dunston Road,Chesterfield is actually not very far from these areas. The emissions are expected to reach these areas too and affect people's health and environement there! Join the fight against the incinerator ! Get onto [email protected] to get the full facts! We are only weeks away from the final planning decision on the Incinirator so we need to show our disapproval now!!!
