I want to be a five a side footballer

liam_vw, I am trying to send you a message but your message box is full. -
I have a 6-a-side team that play in a league on a Wednesday night. We currently have a squad of 8 but one of our players is leaving Sheffield at the end of the month so we are looking for a replacement. This is the league we play in: http://www.footyleague.org/ It takes place up at the Blades academy in Shirecliffe on a Wednesday night. There are 2 divisions, games are an hour and kick off is 8pm and 9pm with each division playing half a season before switching kick of times (ie you play 7 weeks at 8pm, then 7 weeks at 9pm). The league doesn't have refs and is pretty friendly but is competitive. My team is Phoenix Knights, we are something of a West Brom, ie too good for Div 2 but not quite good enough for Div 1! The cost of playing for a 14 season is £31.50 per player so it works out at £2.25 a game, probably the cheapest league in Sheffield and the facilities are excellent with a really good playing surface (proper astro-turf). We really need someone who is fit, is reasonably skillful and with an eye for goal. If you fit the bill and would like to come down for a game one week let me know. Cheers, Chris

Well before anyone else jumps on the bandwagon of defending car drivers and having a go at me for expressing my views I suggest you stop and think about all the times you have been sat on your bike riding safely within the speed limit and had a car driver pull out in front of you from a side road without looking properly and thought "idiot". It's very easy to make ridiculous generalisations about car drivers and motorcyclists isn't is?! -
I went last night with my girlfriend and really enjoyed it, a lively atmosphere, good food and excellent service, good value too. We booked out table for 7 and we're told they didn't need the table after us so it was well after 9 when we left, will definitely go again...

A good costume shop in Sheffield for a fancy dress

I've had quite a few outfits from there (their Shirlock Holmes is great!) and they've always let me try stuff on. Some of their outfits are supplied to theatres so they're very good quality. -
I would just to to recommend The Bangkock Messiahs of Groove for anyone looking for a good covers band for a party. They played at my 40th birthday party a couple of weeks ago and were fantastic. The played for 45 mins then had a break then played another hour and a half as the crowd kept calling them back for more! They're excellent musicians but don't take themselves too seriously so are great for a party.

Went to see The Bangkock Messiahs of Groove ( http://www.bangkokmessiahs.co.uk/ ) at West Street Live last night, they're exactly what I was looking for, thanks for your help! Still looking for a venue though, somewhere with a small stage and a capacity of around 80, anyone got any suggestions....?

My brother is a qualified piano (and cello) teacher, drop me a message if you want his number. Cheers, Chris

I hit 40 (gulp!) in September this year and I'm planning a big party to celebrate. I'm looking for a band to play at the party, mainly covers but some of your own tunes is also fine. The sort of covers I have in mind are rock/punk classics such as AC/DC, Motorhead, Metallica, The Clash, Undertones, Ramones etc. Basically anything noisy that most people will know! PM me with details if you have a band that fits the bill. Cheers, Chris

Yossarian, I've PM'd you. Jack, you're a little young, but thanks anyway. Anyone else out there interested?!

We play in a league up at the Blades Academy at Shirecliffe and need a player or 2 to add to our squad. Kick of time is 7.30 or 8.30 every Wednesday. If you're reasonably fit and entheusiastic and fancy joining us for a game or 2 over the next few weeks drop me a line... Cheers.
