If I had to use Zone Alarm (I stopped ages ago) I'd have also switched by now. There is an update available for Zone Alarm now that will address this issue available from the Zone Alarm site.

He's clearly burnt the iso correctly as he has a series of folders on the CD in Windows Explorer. Come on, wake up people. I did wonder if that was the issue, have you tried another XP disc to rule out a PC problem? I think that would be the next sensible step.

Is your router broadcasting the SSID? Can you connect to any other networks with the laptop? Has anything else scanned the area and found your network?

FF3 isn;t really unstable though, it's more stable than most of the stuff you use. FF2 and FF3 both have their flaws.
