Thanks all for your feedback. The change of fuseboard did include earth testing (and actually requried a few bits to be changed to pass all the testing). He is also part P and registered the work so I have no doubt what he has done is fine. Just wondered what sort of cost I should be looking at. Yes, I wouldn't dodge it at all and would follow it by the book and I think it would need signing off by regs anyway so would need to fit their criteria for this to happen. Thanks all when we are ready for this to be done I will call round (after Christmas now).

Thanks Russty that is great piece of advice, I will defo ensure the garage is prepped to be turned into a habitable space in the future. One final thing ;-) does the 750 sq m include fittings or where does this normally take you up to e.g. walls skimmed or just plasterboarded etc ? Or does it include everything e.g. that would factor in an average kitchen. Thanks again

Hi, no the testing didnt say it needed re-wiring (but hasnt been touched since 1969) but the whole house needs decorating and so on. Therefore we want to get it done whilst we are doing all the house so its done. Does anyone know if £1500 is a realistic ball park figure ? Thanks everyone.

Thanks, the 10k did include a new window (plus bricking up the lower part), electrics (only adding a couple new sockets as electric already there) and radiator. It did also include punching through a wall to create a new door. I am like you though no idea where 10k has come from. Needless to say that went straight into the bin.
