  1. Oh the days of years gone by when the 774 went from Nortan to town via Greenhill, Eccelesall, High Stores and the Childrens Hospital. USed to catch it to the hospital when I was about 5 back in 1984. Just shows how tricky it is to get round the city without going into town first.
  2. Born in Nether Edge Hospital in 1979 and Lived in Norton. Moved to Marple Bridge in Stockport in 1989. Now bought my first House in Hadfield in Derbyshire. Still travelled to Sheffield a lot as Grandparents lived in Eccleshall and even now still come to the city every few weeks.
  3. Yikes is CCC still open used to play in the tents there around 25 years ago
  4. I have just bought and received a copy of the SYPTE bus/train timetable from 1986 on E-bay. Most of the services I remember but others were either new to me or I forgot the exact routes etc. Just shows how services have suffered over recent years Good for nostalgia purposes.
  5. I was 9 at the time and at my Grans in Ecclesall and may parents came back from town around 16:00 and put the telly on saying there was been a a major incident at Hillborough and we saw pictures from the ground. I am still angry and upset at the police and others 20 years on. Horrid for the friends and familes who lost loved ones and for all concerned at the ground.
  6. Thanks hillsbro Having only done the route once I forgot the whole route
  7. If possable I would be very greatful if someone could post the route of the inner circular. Many thanks in advance.
  8. Well done I knew some one would know. They made a change to the Atlantians that were used on the 59. 42 and 53 routes. I rememeber as a kid demanding we went on one of the above where possible . They were phased out I guess during the later 80s. I still thought they were strange though. . I had a soft spot for the Daimlers though as well
  9. I remember all those. I was born in 1979 and loved the bendy buses, We used to catch the X51 to Killamarsh from Pond Street and if you were lucky it was a Fastline bus. I used to love them as they really did seem very fast, though they used to change drivers at Halfway Depot on the outward journey. I remember the fleetline busses with the blue seats and a strange Swedish (I think) double decker that used to run on the 75 route to Bradway. They used to make a strange squealing type noise as they climbed up the hill to Meadowhead. The old green Chesterfield Transport buses were a sign of the times too. Also later there was the route master that ran to Dore. I did a double take when I first saw that.
  10. Used to catch the 59 often between Bochum Parkway and Carterknowle Road top where my grandparents lived or carry on to the Childrens Hospital. At times I used to have a ride round to Malin Bridge just for fun. One time there was an accident that shut the Ringroad just before Manor Top and we were stuck for 1 hour and the next 59 caught us up and we had to swop buses as our one terminated early. As for the full circuit I never did that on the bus but in the 90s there was an early morning 2 that did the full route. I sometimes took the 2 into town from Carterknowle Road but as it took ages my mum usually vetoed any attempt to ride it. I only ever took the inner circular once when it was run by Sheafline in the early 90s I think. Was an interesting route though and I went all the way round. At that time the waiting point was Attercliffe.
