  1. Really? I've never been told that and have DJd many times at this location on the two double sockets that are in the top corner of the room without any problems. EDIT - Can't comment on being outside in a marquee. Sorry, didn' t read that you were outside until after I posted. Quite surprised that a couple of extension cables from one of the main buildings can't be run out to a marquee though. It's not as though you'd be in the middle of a field miles from anywhere. Rules are rules though...
  2. I go to this group, it's very supportive. Della is great.
  3. Interesting to have only read 4 days ago there have been breakthroughs in research: Click here. I suspect with an aging population the research will continue.
  4. 90 will certainly be tight. If you are having a disco in the same room your guests will have to move tables away to make space for dancing. You will need to arrange everything there yourself. The catering company you go with ought to be able to recommend some things for you. Some couples hire in a bar. Others bring lots of bottles.
  5. As a visiting DJ to the premises I have never met the management as they hand over the keys to the people hiring the venue which couples tell me is great but also a bit nerve wracking. There is some confusion over the finish time for the music. Couples are told its midnight so DJs are told so. Then on the night someone comes along and orders the music off for 11.30. Neighbouring properties complain regularly about noise. Finally beware if you use the lift. It jammed last time I was there a couple of weeks ago. Glass shattered and Kier had to be called to rescue the person stuck in there. Other than that its a nice private location but I can't comment on prices.
  6. If you did that then the post would be removed. Naming and shaming is not permitted on this Forum. Any agreements between Forum members are private and the Forum accepts no responsibility nor will it support any posts which could involve this site into any legal battle.
  7. Try the Nelson on Furnival Gate. Downstairs function room. Free hire.
  8. The waste was in a bin bag. I have a waste disposal unit in my sink but I can't put a chicken carcass in there. Flies get into anything. Some weeks we all generate more rubbish. We have clear outs or have parties. Of course I recycle but even the blue bin fills up. When there's a lot of people in one house there will be more waste. Ultimately we now get a second rate service for the same money.
  9. My bin on day 12 is full, in fact everything very compressed down making the bin very heavy. If they refuse to take the bin based on weight then I will be stuck with even more rubbish. Worse than this are the flies. My bin is infested and has been for days. Bring back weekly collections!
  10. He is doing some work for us at the moment fitting some flooring. Can't fault him! Hard working and a perfectionist. Highly recommended... but let him finish my floor first!
  11. GL Note - Now this thread has been moved to this group I'm going to close it. The wedding group has a variety of threads already discussing venues, including a sticky at the top of the page. Have a read around the site.
  12. Take a look in the Wedding Group section of the Forum. Its packed full of info on this.
  13. They do. I've seen an old advert of me DJing pop up a couple of years after the venue closed down. I wouldn't trust anything in the What's On guide.
  14. My word this isn't what I expected to read. I can't imagine for one moment your loss and the knock on effect it has had. Take some time to sort out what needs sorting and if you need help with any arrangements in the weeks or months ahead do post a thread. I'm sure suppliers who read this page will be willing to help under the circumstances.
  15. I didn't think an employer was allowed to approach you when off sick? I think its a bit pushy to want to go to your home. Not exactly neutral grounds...
  16. Visit the floating market just north of the capital. Buying from your canoe is an experience!
  17. Party in the car park at the Coach and Horses in Chapeltown. Live bands. Face painting. Food. Free entry. Runs through the afternoon.
  18. Got home the other day to find 4 cards on the door mat from Yodelling with increasingly more frustrated messages from the guy trying to redepiver throughout the day. A work day might I add. I left it a couple of days and called in at the depot to collect to be tolerant it was back on the van, hurry home. 4 hours later it arrived. It's poor.
  19. I'm sure there's a bridal shop in the centre of Barnsley that caters for larger sizes. Can't remember the name and its four years since I was there. Sorry, this probably isn't that helpful, but is at least a direction to go for. EBay may be another alternative or a dressmaker.
