  2. Gordon Hobson was there from 70 to 74,played pro football for Lincoln City and Southampton among other clubs

  4. i used to walk over the ridge to School, depending how muddy it was i would either walk through the horses field, or go over the top through what was left of the cottage/hall,spent many hours at crabtree pond if i could get through the snicket gate next to the house. I live in Spain now and was just remembering the early 60's

  6. Can anyone remember the ruins at the end of sturton road ?, we thought it was some kind of abbey,used to play round there when i lived on margate drive in the prefabs,long before the park was there,think there was allotments then,i cant find any info on the ruins at all

  8. Can anyone remember Mrs Taffinder who lived in the big houses next to Smith Field on Grimesthorpe road,she worked at Sutherland Road baths as an attendant,she had a blonde beehive style hair do
  9. There were 2 sons as far as i remember,Kim Morley was about my age,cant remember the youngest sons name,Mrs Morley worked in a fruit and veg shop on Spital Hill,then she moved to the Sheaf Market when that opened,think she still worked for the same fruiterer in there Regards Martin
  10. Hi cat631 didnt know that many people,i was 8 when we moved to norwood,i have good memories of the area though,i now live in southern Spain and think back to the early days. My father used to look after the Hallcar Tavern when the landlord and landlady were on holiday,sed mto stay there for a couple of weeks
  11. I lived in the prefabs on Margate Drive from 1958 to 1966,i can remember the Morleys and the Pryors who lived on Margate also,i went to Oakwood school on Devon road and then up to Firshill,then finally to Firth park
  12. my headmaster at Firshill Junior School,a Mr Cox,often told us of the roman road which ran over the top of Orphanage Road over to Roe Woods,latterly i was informed that a roman building of some kind was discovered on the building of the Atlas and Norfolk sports ground (now S.U.F.C academy) maybe this all linked up with the Roman Ridge?
